The mayor will get it in. They will never give up. First by the drink in their plan there will be liquor stores in the poor areas of Berea in five years.

I personally hope they get alcohol sales In Berea. It's the only way we will ever have any decent restaurants or attract any other types of industry to the area.

Don't understand it. There is a liquor store about 7 miles from Berea city limits. Why give richmond the tax money?

Agreed! People go to Monyt's and sip it on the way home. I submit if they bought it in Berea and lived in Berea, they would be more inclined to wait until they get home to drink.

That being said, DUI is a fact of lfe. While DUI arrests have droped nation wide, there is still a percentage of people that don't give a damn about anyone but themselves and will drink and drive regardless. In the Manchester Enterpize (new paper) it is not uncomon to see people charged with 3rd, 4th and 5th DUI offences.

Waitresses at Outback, Ocharlies, Applebys, Red Slobster, etc... make way more money than some shlub at hitachi you dolt.

Ask a bartender at Paddy Wagon how much they make. Then, go ask a waitress at Mario's how much they make. You are only hurting the working class with your prohibitionist ideals.

If you want to live in a slummy town move to downtown Richmond and deal with alcohol all night long. I will take Berea and the quietness anytime.

Do you shoppe at he Lowes in Berea? How about the Office Depot in Berea? I love the Cinemark Berea myself... The Peddlers Mall suits my needs just fine, I don't spend a dime in that evil place that sells alcohol.

Is my sarcasm lock working???

What has alcohol done that was good?

Richmond is one giant bar and they were in bad shape.

Lexington has alcohol everywhere and they are having money trouble.

Yep,alcohol has solved all of their problems.

Lexington is broke because the police and firefighters are stealing all the money. You can retire with a sprained big toe up there.

Madison Co. looks about the same with their new chargers. They should be driving toyota corollas to save on gas.

BereaProud needs to take a trip to Danville and see what alcohol has done for them. DUIs even went down clown.

Well, I am a person who likes a glass of wine, or several...and I worry that if Berea allowed drinks by the glass it would drive our little guys out of business. I wouldn't want some crappy chains at the exits getting all the business while our small restaurants in town went out of business because they don't seat enough people to be allowed to serve. Again, I have NO objection to alcohol.[QUOTE who="really?"]<qu oted text>

I understand the both sides. Only thing is...the post from Drinker...I don't exactly know of any small business restaurant in Berea besides Papaleno's and Mario's and a mexican restaurant.

I have lived in Berea for over 40 yrs, and cannot say I have ever went to a restaurant in Berea, besides grabbing a burger or a pizza, and only a few times at that.

My family and I go to Richmond where the selection is more than fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatos, and I can have a drink IF I CHOOSE.

Berea is living in the cart path of the founder of Berea college. The bible thumpers have the fear of all drinkers are bitter ol moonshine wife beaters who are poor family members. As I said, I live in Berea, have all my life, when I go to a restaurant in Richmond I always see Berea people, when I go to a liquor store I see Berea people, when I go to friends and familys homes in Berea, I see alcohol bought in Richmond.
really?
