I know Berea Baptist hosts at least on Thursday nights. I help with maintenance at the church and I've seen AA gathering many, many times.

I believe you have to go to Lexington for Gamblers Anonymous but I'll ask around.

Wrong web address (I was thinking of AA's). The correct address is www.gamblersanonymous.org

It would really be helpful to find some meetings that still follow the twelve steps. I have found that those who have court ordered people attending are no where near confidential. Someone who does not attend of their own free will will not honor our secrets. That has happened to two of my friends who attend AA. In regards to AA and Alanon, when the pastors of the church the meetings are held in use the names of those people attending in their sermons, there is no anonymity.
In regards to gamblers anonymous, it is true those specific meetings are fewer and far between, but if you need a meeting, you will be welcome at any 12 step meeting. They all work the same, ya just need to twist a few little details like inserting the "drug" of your choice in the place of the drug that is the focus of that meeting. IE...I have found when I feel like drinking I try....you can just take out the drinking idea and insert the gambling. It is the addiction we all have in common, and if we focus on that any of those meetings will help, one day at a time.

There aren't any Gamblers Anonymous meetings in Madison County. The closest ones are in Lexington -- three meetings a week. Go to the GA website for more information.

The Alanon meeting on Thursdays at 8 PM at the Berea Baptist Church is sparsely attended and isn't very good. The better one is 8 PM Fridays at the United Methodist Church (Main Street at Lancaster) in Richmond. Many more people and a lot better recovery in Richmond.

The only Friday AA meeting is at 8 PM at the United Methodist Church, Main at Lancaster, Richmond. It's in the basement; it's outstanding; Alanon meets at the same time. There's an 8 AM meeting on Saturdays in the activities room of Oh Kentucky Campground.
