Jut got double billed by Time Warner; they called it a "glitch" that can't be corrected. Compared cost of Windstream and if I switch I will save 50% the first year and will be same price as Time Warner the 2nd year; any comments appreciated.
How is Windstream service? I like Time Warner for reliability; but am not happy with this sudden double charge; and I like to save money (don't we all). So please respond.

Thanks.

Windstream internet is fine as long as you don't mind the slower speeds of DSL vs cable. Also you were double charged but you didn't lose any money, it will just apply to your next month. The same thing happened to me.

Hmmmm... even though I would save 50% the first year; you are saying the internet would operate slower? How much slower? I like my stuff to work when I need it.

I called them and they said you get 6.0 for approx.$50 and if it is too slow you can get 12.0 for another $3.00! That is half what time warner charges me. So is there anyone here who likes Windstream? I have a friend that uses it and has no problem; she uses skype with it too!

Time Warner charges me $107 now for both. So if Windstream works well I'd like to change and save $$. I will check back often, so far Time Warner 3 Windstream 0

Unless you live on Center St there is no way you can even get 6. The highest I got was 5 and it averages in the 3s. You pay less at Windstream but you get very slow speed.

I have had Windstream for about 3 years now ( only because time Warner isn't available in our area ) and I have to call them at least once a month and have our connection reset! It goes out all the time!

Oddly here I am getting a negative regarding Windstream, among friends I am receiving positive; makes me wonder.

Its not slow because its windstream, its slow because its DSL. DSL is a slower technology and requires you to be within a certain distance of the head end in order to reach full speed because its running over phone lines that were probably installed 50years ago. Even the fastest DSL in this area (ATT Uverse) is still 1/2 the speed of standard cable.

It really depends where you live and how far you are from transporter or what ever it's called. I have 3.0, I cant get 6.0 because I am to far away. 3.0 works fine for, I am able to watch Netflix amd hulu with no problem. I dont play online games much, but never had a problem when I do. My parents however, it's very slow, they live further from the transport thingy. They can't get cable where they live so, it's that or dial up.

It really depends where you live

Thank you for your help; switching to Wind stream per friends personal responses elsewhere. I will save $600 the first year; when I called TW whom I have been a customer of for years; they are willing to do nothing to keep me as a customer. So.. be it.

I had windstream for over a year and I just found out I will save $30+ Its only $113 a month for internet phone and cable. and the cost doesnt change like it does with windstream. IDK how many times I had to call n cuss someone out for something going wrong with my bill n hidden charges for stuff i never used. plus they tried to charge me for hook up and they didnt even do anything or give us what we needed. The guy drove his van out here n sat on his phone the whole time then left. My bf had to hook everything up.

it depends on wat u use becuase i have 3 computers ad 360 online with a smart tv also and windstream is extremely slow. our son is always complaining about lagging on his games so i advise if u have a bunch of electronics online dont use windstream we also cant have anything faster then we have.

Windstream sucks. Hard. I can't even consistently watch videos on YouTube with the quality turned down to 240 without experiencing lag. I went to speedtest.com , 94% of the world has better internet than me. It's my only option, so I'm stuck paying those thieves for garbage service.

And my garbage service has been out for about 5 hours now.

I personally have had service with both windstream and time warner. I had a lot of trouble with windstream and hated it. So I switched on a trail basis after being with windstream couple years to time warner and love the service. I have cable, internet, and home phone at a great rate. Never any problems at all and it's been a year now. They do offer smaller packages at different rates but my package suited our family great. Good luck!!

Windstream is certainly the choice as far as cost is concerned. TWC however rules when it comes to connection speeds.

Some areas of Berea have a history of problems with Windstream. Actually it is not "Windstream" itself but the poor quality and condition of the lines they inherited from Alltel and GTE. I live in a recently built subdivision (10 years) and out of the last 8 years, I have had to call Windstream for help probably five times if that. Service here is great but was hell when I lived in town.
