when you see some child lying on the field not moving by letting a 13 year old play in a youth league with 10 to 12 year olds that the board voted on in the first place to not let the 13 year olds play in the league. Then who is going to take the blame for that. Its not the boards fault the President put the 13 year old boys in this year after the board said NO. So if your kid gets hurt you know where to go. My opinion there needs to be a open board meeting with all the parents that have questions and let the presdent answer their concern to their face. Ive talked to alot of board members that would agree to this but whats the chance of that happening slim to none. Come out and talk with the parents thats what a good presdent would do. Leave the screaming and yelling at the house before you come that would be a good Idea just a thought.

There you go, running your mouth about 10-13 yr olds playing together. The ONLY way they play together is if the 10 yr old is over the weight requirements for the lower league.....Why don't you take some time and read the rules and regulations of the Berea Youth League. You then MIGHT learn a little something about why 10-13 yrs olds are playing together.

My only comment to the 13 yr olds is,they are old enough to play at the middle school level, so why r they with 10 year old boys. I think that it is totally unfair for the 10 and 11 yr olds, most boys by age 12 and 13 have started to hit a growing streak, so shouldn't they b playing on a age level that is appropriate for them. I know someone will say weight is the difference, but shouldn't the maturity level also play a factor. Just curious, but how does a rule get passed if it is voted NO and still gets changed?

what i think is if they are in 7-8th grade they need to play with the school the youth league is suppose to be a feeder system to the schools

The cheerleaders got NO uniforms, several lies have been told and no one will accept responsibility. Cheerleaders paid $75 and got a BOW and that's it...FACT! Our coach told us our uniforms were in and we'd get them before the game, that was a lie! I am so mad and my daughter is so upset, we will NOT be using BYFA next year. They owe the cheeerleaders uniforms or a full refund! What a disappointment!!!! These are kids, make it right for crying out loud and stop pointing fingers!

Only if the entire board is replaced will next year be better. Two disasterous years in a row? I'm not giving this league a 3rd chance, next year we're headed to Richmond...anywhere but BYFL, oh I mean BYFA(sses)

Well this is our first year, and with all of this mess Im sure it will be our last. I refuse to just hand some one my hard earned money, and not see any evidence of what it went to!

The woman in charge of the Cheerleading uniforms is Amanda Estess. SHE was incharge of taking care of all that.Ask her where all that money went....Probably went to the same place as all the "LOST" money from last year!!! As for the uniforms/jersey's for the football team, they will be in THIS week. Yes, she had a whole extra month to get them in and have them ready, but $$Money has always been a factor for the league. Yes, the players/cheerleaders pay $75 to play, but what MOST parents don't understand is EVERYTHING cost money. The league had to order TONS of new equiptment for the kids this year... Thats not FREE! There's fees for refs, fees for fields, money to get consession started....Not to mention a lot of the kids through the league haven't even paid yet, or was discounted to only having to pay like $25 or so. The league is providing Jersey, pants, socks, helemets, shoulder pads, practice pants...Hell, they've clothed your child for the season. and your going to bitch cause they jerseys are a week late? Get a life and get a clue. and if you think you can run the league any better, by all means, join the board and lets hear your opinion!!

So let me get this straight because I want to be precise when I notify all of the parents:
1.) Football needed new equipment so the money for cheerleading uniforms was used for football. YES?
2.)And at the same time you're saying Amanda Estes stole the cheerleading money?
3.) You're saying Amanda Estes stole the money from last year?
4.)You're saying you gave Amanda Estes a month to get things ready and it doesn't matter that we paid in July, you all just screwed around and did nothing for two months?
5.)You're saying that I paid $75 to cover registration fees which has ALWAYS included a cheerleading uniform, but this year it does not?
Please, set us lowly parents straight Ms. Ravonda.

Also, opinions have been voiced, you don't want to hear them. And you need to decide what your excuse is for not having uniforms because you just listed about 4 or 5:

Not enough money (although you had plenty for football)

Amanda was in charge and didn't order them (although she purchased for them what they wore Sunday)

You let people sign up and play who have not paid, therefore the cheerleaders do without because you ACCEPTED registrations without money (ummmm, that's YOUR problem)

You gave discounts to your buddies which shorted the budget (it's not my job to cover discounts for your friends)

And let's get one thing straight, parents DO understand everything cost money, why in the HELL do you think they're so pissed that spent $75 and got NOTHING!

If in fact the league is not ripping people off, then let's see those cheerleading uniforms come in real quick..ummmmkay. If not, you need to be refunding some parents. While you're at it, you should probably think of something to tell the parents of the Ravens who paid $75, are using old equipment and the coach bought the uniforms.

P.S. The Raiders got treated to a pizza party after the game, who paid for that?

This is Scott Estes the coach of the ravens. Oh by the way it's not Amanda Estes it's Amanda Lawson we are not married. But anyways somebody just screwed up by accussing her of stealing the money. Just ask to see the books her name is on nothing. We haven't handle any money I got reciepts to show what we've paid for and I'll show you the credit card statement when it comes in. If y'all think she stole anything PLEASE let's call the law and have them investigate it. Please we will go to the state trooper head quarters ourselves if you want to go. I'll tell you this if Anybody has got proof that me or her stole anything from the league I'll give you $2500 cash for a reward. So bring your proof. I buy more for my football team out of my own pocket than most coaches. I don't just put my time in and run around feeling good about myself. I put my heart and soul with it. I love every kid I've met and even just talked to. I've walked away from my teams practice to say hi or to help a kid sign up or even find his team. I paid kids out of my pocket last year so they would help pick up trash. I love every kid at that park just like there my own and you better think about it before you go around saying that me or her stole anything from a kid. We'll help a bengal,Titan, raider, hell I've help kids out who's parents don't like me. 2 months ago we were 2 good people now when we ask questions wondering where the new equipment is and where are uniforms all of sudden we are trash. Wrong. I'm a big boy pick on me I'm there all the time but you better leave her and my kids out of it. Please somebody tell me who told you that Scott Estes and Amanda Lawson stole from the league.

The person making the accusations in the posts above HAS to be Ravonda because these are comments she has made around the ballpark. If it's not her then it's one of her "friends"; you can probably narrow it down because she doesn't have many. I am not a Ravens parent, but I do know several kids on the team and have been present at practices and just for the record I have NEVER heard any complaints! That IP address can be traced and if I were accused of something like that on a public forum I would definitely do something about it. I think it's ODD that money got taken last year, yet no one got prosecuted. That tells me that someone didn't to incriminate themselves so they used the ole "well, I narrowed it down to two people and neither of them would admit to it so nothing could be done about it." If she thought Amanda took money last year, then why did she put her over cheerleading this year and put her on the board. People really need to THINK before speak, another reason I think the above posts belong to Ravonda. She isn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box.
Thanks

Coach Estes, thanks for the information. I know a lot of parents wanted to go, but the general consensus is that communicating with someone who is not friendly, unapproachable, aggressive, defensive and disprespectful is not going to accomplish anything. Suggestions, opinions, and concerns, are not welcome and comments which may express disagreement with the league will be met with not only resistance but retaliation. I think people are worried about how the act of just asking a simple question will have negative consequences with regards to how their child is treated and most definitely how the parent is treated throughout the remainder of the season. The only way I see to deal with it is to avoid, avoid, avoid and pray to God that decisions from this point forward will be made in the best interest of the kids (all of the kids - and by all I mean both football players and cheerleaders.)
