I was hoping someone might be able to give me some help in trying to find out which factories I can check out in Berea or Richmond that might be hiring. I keep doing internet searches but come up with nothing. I only know of Tokico in Berea (I am in Richmond). My husband and I are probably going to splitting and I have to find a day job to support my son and myself.

Good luck, but it is my understanding that no factories are hiring. As a matter of fact, Tokico just laid off almost 100 employees.

Which side of the plant at Tokico laid off workers? All the people I know are still working and its actually picked up some. I dont know if any are hiring but theres some around Duncannon, like Rapt and what are those two others? A plastics place and something else?? But like the PP stated there hard to come by right now. Good luck!

The south plant laid off the most, but it was not limited to the south. I've heard they are trying not to rush lay offs, but more seem imminent. Duncannon has Mikron and American Tape and 1 other besides Rapt.

Tokico girl-you are full of shit. Not one person was laid off Wednesday at Tokico, nor in the last 30 days. The lay-offs happened in late May early June, so either you don't actually work at Tokico, or you have no concept of time, OR you don't pay very close attention.

And as far as future lay-offs go, NOT ONE WORD HAS BEEN SPOKEN AMONG THE HIGHER-UPS ABOUT FUTURE LAY-OFFS. My source is pretty damn good....

However, as far as looking for a job, Tokico will not be hiring for quite some time.

Just a quick after thought, Tokico girl. I am assuming you are the same person who posted in the factory tramp section, and if not, ignore this. If you get all sweaty, on the verge of passing out, and you say you work in the south plant, I can't for the life of me figure out where. Because of the back breaking demands in some of the departments (machining), most if not all of the females in the south plant work in temperature controlled rooms or in the offices. Please enlighten me. In which temperature controlled room are you getting all sweaty? I simply don't believe you work there.

Yeah whenever Im up there south plants side looks pretty scarce. North plant is where my friends and fiancee work. Its looking not so hot for Tokico right now in general though.

True, Tokico is automotive, and that industry is getting hit hard, but it looks "not so hot" for most business/factories right now.

Mt vernon Plastics is hiring, long drive, and its not much money, but easy work, and not a slave's schedule like at TOKICKO.

JTW,
The thing I felt was significant in what you said was you were looking for a day job. If it in fact must be days then you probably should be looking somewhere besides manufacturing. Generally, day shifts are occupied by senior employees.
As far as all the chatter about Tokiko, it is now owned by Hitachi Automotive Products, which is owned by Hitachi LTD. Hitachi is a very successful company and produces a very wide array of high tech products ranging from automotive, medical equipment, power tools and home electronics just to name a few. Hitachi Automotive Products is actually based in Harrodsburg, Ky. Everything they are involved in evolves into cutting edge technology so the long term outlook for Tokico is pretty good in my opinion. If Hitachi didn't see a clear roadmap to big success with Tokico they would not have bought it.

Please, tell me what department you work in, are you in the north or south, I'll stop by for a visit either way. I am well aware of how miserable it is in the north plant. However, you said you were in the south plant, getting so hot you were about to pass out, and that is impossible in the south plant for the females.

Think about this, tokico girl, how do you know I am not looking at you as I walk by, to and from meetings, going up those steps in the north, wondering if you are the idiot making shit up on this website just so you can have something to say about tokico?????? How do you know I DON'T ALREADY WORK THERE?????

I sincerely hope you try to think about the crazy numbers you are throwing around here, because they are totally and completely inacurate, or to be more direct, your statements are false.

Certainly, long term tokico will be fine, but in this finacial climate, the factory cannot run wide open, so cutting back has to happen, be it no overtime, shorter days, whatever. They cannot accept a loss every month just because they might be doing well at a sister company, but they will be fine and have done everything in their power to keep the cuts from hurting too many employees permanently. This poster, "tokico-girl", is throwing future lay off numbers around to do nothing but stir up some fear and maybe make herself feel important.

JTW, you might try the new Richmond Center, many new places there are hiring now, and that would mean days. Any check is better than no check, right?

Hello to everyone on this website! I want to say I work at Tokico, I am a female and I am in the south plant. We do work very hard and I agree with "Tokico Girl" on some of her issues. Tokico is going through some hard times right now, but I am sure we will bounce back! As for everyone slamming Tokico, it is a GREAT place to work and I am very thankful for my job. I hope this sheds some light on the "interesting" dialogues and conversations going on here going on here. Good luck to the guy trying to find a job, I think Cracker Barrel is hiring.

Not one person, myself included, thinks that females do not work hard in the south plant, they just aren't sweating their asses off there, like in the north plant. Does no one on here read an entire post before responding?

I have worked at Tokico for 11yrs. in the south plant the hole time, so maybe I know something about the place. You (whatever) are rite about the temperature controlled rooms, that is when the air and heat is working and when its not, it dose get very hot and cold in those rooms. But not all woman work in those rooms, some work in warehouse, no temp.controll, some work in Pad Kit, not in side a temp. room, 2 woman work in Q.C receaving not in a temp. room. So no its not impossible to get so hot to passout for females in the south plant. So I'm thinking your sourse, be it you or someone else must not go out on the floor in the south plant very much. Maybe you sould get your sourses facts rite before you tell someone they don't know what they are talking about.

However, those women are NOT working right next to the machines, which put out the heat that will make you pass out. Good try, but no cigar. The women folk do NOT GET THAT HOT IN THE SOUTH! Go stand where Kirby stands and then we will talk about heat in the south plant. The north plant is the absolute worst, with no fans over the machines. The ones in warehouse and qc are simply not getting THAT hot. Come on, come up with something better.

Your rite, Kirbys line is hot as is all the lines in machining but you dont have to stand on a line to get hot in the south plant. No one will disagree with you that the north plant is alot hotter but if you work and by work I don't mean pass thru on your way to brake room or to smoke, I mean work, sortting parts or go help the girls that run pad kit and see if you don't get hot. And you must be a doctor, cause you think you know that everyone gets hot at the temp.
