Here's a thought.....
Ever notice that ALL the poorest counties in Kentucky are Republican counties? Hummm.....

Rockcastle is a Republican county and poorer than Jobs turkey. Logistically they have the same advantage as Madison County. They have I-75 running thru it and 2 interstate exits. What's the problem? Why no industrial parks bring jobs to the county. Madison County has 2 industrial parks. Republican leadership or piss poor leaders.

Garrard County, another Republican county. Poorer than dirt. They do not have interstate access but they do have nice road systems into Fayette and Madison County.

Estill County, Republican County. Railroad access. 2 lane highway into Richmond. Estill County has dried up that is for certain.

While you make a valid statement you only present a single set of facts as they relate to the political demographic of the counties in question.

The SINGLE factor that determines the political demographic in each case can be DIRECTLY related to the total number of people in each county who receive, or who are totally dependant, on the social welfare system.

It is a fact that in the more prosperous counties you list you will also find the highest number of social welfare recipients. The prosperous areas can AFFORD to support a larger social system where the poorer counties cannot.

It is a fact that where you find the LARGEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE DEPENDANT ON THE SOCIAL WELFARE SYSTEM, you will ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS find the largest number of DECLARED DEMOCRATS.

You will also find that in those (prosperous) counties the people who are contributing to the prosperity are typically declared Republicans. Look in you community, at professionals, business men and women, highly skilled technical people and you will find most are, Oh my..declared Republicans.

In the counties you have classed as "POOR" and "Republican" you will find a much larger number of people classed as "Working Poor" people who would rather try to make system work, than sit and wonder why the system can't give them something.

So, when you say the most prosperous counties in Ky are Democrat, you are probably right. The larger the social system, the more Democrats you will find. But that doesnt make it a good thing....

Also, Kentucky is just a poor state in general, all there roads, interstates look alot worse then other states. When i go on vacation I always notice that their high-ways look so much better and less trashy. But republican or democrat it doesnt matter, people are people and its up to them what kind of life they live and the jobs they get,it doesnt matter if there a democrat or a republican they just live in a less attractive town.

The next few years are going to get worse for the poor. The republicans so called (Ryan Road Map) 2012 budget is going to cut medicaid, food-stamps, hud housing assistance, and many wick programs for chidren, and also head-start. Why the poor vote these republicans in office is beyond me. Rand Paul, and Mitch have their ax out, just hope the Democrats can defend these cuts in 2012, after that your own your own. Better start plowing up ground and planting big gardens, it's going to get rough if the repubs get their way with the poor.

Most of the poorer counties have a low number of jobs within them. It is more a matter of having community leaders wanting to bring change to their counties and the citizens voting into office the candidates that will help bring change.

Lord help us. I totally agree with everything that you are saying. I hope that everyone will research the facts. GO to Rand Pauls website and read it for yourselves.

Yes, things must change. We can no longer continue to operate this country in the red. However, all of the wealth in this country is concentrated in the hands of a small number of families. The wealthiest 1 percent of families owns roughly 34.3% of the nation's net worth, the top 10% of families owns over 71%. Unless, you are one of these wealthy few, then one must see there is a problem.

There are so many ways to bring money back into this country. Do you know that large corporate America is keeping their profits overseas to avoid paying tax on that money?

It is cheaper to pay the foreign tax than our US tax on money that is actually earned here in the US.

G.E.’s Strategies Let It Avoid Taxes Altogether. General Electric, the nation’s largest corporation, had a very good year in 2010. The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion. That may be hard to fathom for the millions of American business owners and households now preparing their own returns, but low taxes are nothing new for G.E. The company has been cutting the percentage of its American profits paid to the Internal Revenue Service for years, resulting in a far lower rate than at most multinational companies.

Its extraordinary success is based on an aggressive strategy that mixes fierce lobbying for tax breaks and innovative accounting that enables it to concentrate its profits offshore. G.E.’s giant tax department, led by a bow-tied former Treasury official named John Samuels, is often referred to as the world’s best tax law firm. Indeed, the company’s slogan “Imagination at Work” fits this department well. The team includes former officials not just from the Treasury, but also from the I.R.S. and virtually all the tax-writing committees in Congress.

We, the U.S. lost out on tax revenue from $5.1 billion of the total income that came from GE operations in the United States. GE also claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion. Contact ALL of your Senators and representatives. WE NEED THIS REVENUE. This is only from GE. Stop allowing foregin countries to collect our taxes. Give them the rate foreign countries do & bring that money home! We need it!

Doling out public benifits spending other people's money is a quick easy 'fix' until you run out of other people's money to spend. Of course public benifits need to be cut. The problem with the public benifits system is that when the Govt attempts help the helpless, people poster themselves as helpless to recieve handouts too. The problem is not that the socialist politicians don't have enough money. One of the problems is that the handouts encourage people who can work, Not to work. History is frought with this repeating pattern. The free loaders are the weeds of society that choke the well being of both the helpless and the hard working.
Another issue that socialists don't talk about is the concept of private property. If you sweat a profit out, what 'right' do other people have to it? Socialist see capital as state property. Constitutional libratarians, conservatives see capital as private property. Some intuit the need for fire departments, law enforcement, military and so on. Granted. Give a socialist an opening and they will exploit it to the demise of a culture, a nation. It's history.

Again, while irritating, I have to admire the wit if have a topic title drill a point, misleading as it is, each time a point, counterpoint is offered. A percentage of the population will read the topic heading and absorb the faulty reasoning just by virtue of seeing it over and over as people within the topic debate the validity of the intent of the statement. Very cleaver.

MLK wasn't a Republican, and it was James Earl Ray, a racist cracka, that shot him. Or so the FBI wants you to believe...

And farmers and police and schools and old people take so much of my tax dollars... why can't they get real jobs, and stop living off my taxes ? I'm tired of these deadbeat farmers... just taking a big ole Tobacco Check from Uncle Sam, usually in $10,000s... WAY more than the $100 a month food stamps poor whites are sucking up in this state (we got like 5% black... yeah, so virtually all problems are problems of WHITE people).

So when white people learn to quit living off the govt teat, then we'll have more money to give to the Big Banks and Corporations and Military Industrial Complex, which take up 95% of our funds anyways... but we don't like to take on the Big Corporate Socialists... just the poor children... shut up kid! Now get out into that sweatshop, and work like a real man! Ah Kentucky... u pretend like u betta, but u ain't betta than nobody.

I live in Lewis County which is also Republican and one of the poorest counties in Kentucky. Kentucky is one of the poorest states in America because we have only had one business friendly (Republican) governor in at last 70 years. Demoncrat legislators have no problem taking taxes from Republican counties and funneling it to their minions in Demoncrat counties. Sadly, they have no inclination to ethical treatment of taxpayers in Republican counties. Personally, I live close enough to Ohio that I can drive to a very good paying job in a more business friendly state.

Actually, you stated the problem as if the tail wagged the dog. It would be more correct to say that the Republican counties in a Demoncrat state are always going to be poorer counties as opposed to poor counties being Republican. No one has ever accused the libturds (Demoncrats) of fair play or ethical treatment of their servants.
