Change for Parents

Lexington, KY

If we want to change the climate and culture we need to speak positively. Istead of "parents for change" it should be "Change the Parents" The things that have been printed are not only mean spirited and set a HORRIBLE example to the community and more importantly the students, but are completely out of line with our school handbook and what we stand for at Berea Community. The R in Pirate PRIDE stands for Respect yourself and others. The articles that have been printed in that joke we call a newspaper have not shown an ounce of respect for our leadership at all. Parents should be ashamed of theirselves for this witch hunt they have kept going for so long. It has not been about the test scores in a long time. It's personal. How dare you make fun of his stature thats just pathetic. Children at school would be punished for such drawings of classmates. Grow up!! What kind of picture do you want to paint in our community. We are the laughing stock of Berea. I support Mr. Masters and there are many more like me that will be canceling our subscription to the Berea Citizen. Why would the District do an announcement about Mr. Masters having back trouble, are you serious.

Did we read the same newspaper??? I will agree the cartoon was a bit juvenile. However, as a parent, I do not care where Mr. Masters is. But I do care about who is in charge of my child on a daily basis!! Is it too much to ask of the district to let us know about changes in leadership? I think not!! I have not heard one word from Mr. Conkin. Is a note home to much to ask? As a parent, I expected to hear about this from the district, not the newspaper!!! What does "back trouble" have to do with this? That, my dear, is personal. I do not need that information. Medical leave would have been a sufficient explanation! Lastly, you seem to have an in depth knowledge of the school handbook. It is my sincere hope you are not an educator in this district. It appears you may be a student, based solely upon your grammar!!

Really? Do you feel that you should be informed every time an administrator has a health problem? WOW Are you saying that if you don't agree with everything your boss is doing that it's alright to draw a cartoon character making fun of their size and stature. I bet you are a fine Christian parent. All about teaching us about morals and values. Did you forget about the verse he who is without sin cast the first stone. I am curious why the newspaper and I use the term loosely, put his health issues on the front page and put the test scores which have been published for the 100th time in the midde somewhere. What message was really more important. When Foley failed to meet AYP (do the homework) none of their parents went on a witch hunt for the principal for God sakes. Get your priorities straight. Alot of kids are very upset about all this. In a kids life there are a few key people that we hold to a high standard our principal is one of those people. He has done alot of great things for individual kids that you know nothing about. Shame on you "parents for change"

If there are ďa lotĒ of kids upset over the treatment of Mr. Masters, I would encourage you to organize the students and have them sign a petition expressing their support for Mr. Masters. As a matter of fact, I challenge you to do that. Get real aggressive and step up and take the lead on the endeavor. Show the students that there is a democratic way to show solidarity and express their concerns. I believe that is all that the "Parents for Change" did? Again, I challenge you. I personally donít think youíll find enough students that would consider signing a petition in favor of Mr. Masters. Bye, bye Mr. Masters, youíre done!

Thats a great idea. I think we should also try to find out if the Mayor has ever took a medical leave due to illness or injury, and if so we could put a cartoon in the paper making him look bald and say he ran out of the office in pain. I am amazed that the biggest news in the town of Berea is that Masters has back trouble. I wonder if my grandmother was excited when the news hit the paper.

Our students need to focus on educational matters. Lets not get them involved in taking sides on what is not only a personal vendeta, but a subject that is old and finished. I applaud Mr. Masters for showing great integrity while others around him want their children to write "Do you like him" yes or no circle one. Reminds me of Elementary. Lets focus on learning.

I want to see a cartoon of their bald headS and big stomachs. Saying If I don't get my way I'll take my ball and go home. Our school wouldn't be that lucky. If you don't like it LEAVE!!!!

In the past my children have brought home good and bad test papers. I do not keep the ones they do poorly on posted on the refrigerator for a year. Let's move forward and stop putting those test scores in the faces of our children every week. We need to move forward.

I know this must be a hard time in your life. I'm sure you will never forget the things that are being said and done concerning your dad. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive these people, for they know not what they say. Your dad is a wonderful man. He is highly educated and grew up in a good Christian household. This will pass and things will get better. I pray your family will be together soon and this will all be a bad memory. Your dad has done the right thing by keeping his mouth shut while others are behaving like spoiled children. I hope you don't feel you have to fight to defend your dad's good name. His actions throughout all this have spoken louder than words. The fact that your grandfather was a preacher and your dad was raised in a good home will carry him through this tough time. There are alot of people that respect and admire your dad, don't forget all of the good things you have seen him do over the years. I pray for you and your family. Cry out to God, this will pass.

Yeap! I've been praying for almost a year that all this would pass. As soon as Mr. Masters is gone for good, my prayers will be answered.

alright. thats enough. theese freakin parents that our complaining about their kids principal need to just stop! if you dont like the way he does stuff for your child take them out of our school instead of complaining about it !? and i bet i COULD get atleast 100 people to sign saying they love mr.msaters. OR i could actually go to school and learn like were supposed to do? so, you need to just stop complaining nd leave it would obviously be a good change to have kids like that GONE!
