BEREA — One week before the Aug. 10 filing deadline for candidates seeking election to the eight-seat Berea City Council, three incumbents and five others have entered the race.

First-term incumbents Ronnie Terrill, 2006 Big Hill Road, Jerry Little, 303 Oakwood Dr., and Bill Wagers, 111 Pearl St., have filled.

Others who have filed include:

• Richard Bellando, 105 Churchill Dr., who served on the council in the mid-1980s

• Chad Hembree, 207 Elkin St.

• Charles F. Hoffman, 227 Jackson St.

• Diane Kerby, 108 Van Winkle Grove, wife of former the late mayor Clifford Kerby

• Charles Land, 114 Rose Ct.

Four other incumbent council members — Virgil Burnside, Violet Farmer, Glenn Jennings and Troy VanWinkle — had not filed as of Tuesday. Council member Greg Lakes is a candidate for District One magistrate.

Incumbent Steve Connelly is so far the only candidate in the mayor’s race.

Two incumbents have filed to run for Berea Independent School Board, Jacqueline Burnside, 318 Forest St., and Linda Wagers, 629 Chestnut St.

Mona Isaacs, 1411 Ky. Hwy. 1016, who was appointed to fill the vacancy in District 3 created by the resignation of Gly Green, has filed to run for Madison County School Board.

No others had filed for either school board race Tuesday afternoon.

To get on the Nov. 2 election ballot Berea City Council, Berea Independent School Board and Madison County School Board, candidates must filed by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, according to the Madison County Clerk’s office.

You got that right. Were all doomed. I took my pc to have it repaired at that place Chad Hembree runs a couple different times. He had it for weeks. All I got was the run around so I took it some place else and had it back the next day. If he cant run his own business how can he help run our city?

To all the people who voted for him 4 yrs ago, I hope you are happy now that you helped infest our once nice town with this Jackson County trash. Maybe we could convince him to move to San Francisco with Don Combs! lol

You have my apology for your dissatisfaction with the timeliness of your computer repairs. Due to the growing successes of my radio programs, speaking engagements and largest client I closed DataStar two years ago. Thank you for your business in the past. I recommend Jeff at CompuCreate or Mike at Mitek as knowledgeable, local alternatives.

Sincerely,
Chad

Hes always been that way. I use to take my pc's to him when he was down by Hyster and then he moved down by the skating rink. I finaly got fed up with the excuses and took it to Hartmore. As for the rest of the group running I agree Berea is Doomed!!

Maybe Berea won't be doomed if we elect an entirely new council.

If they want my vote have them get rid of this stupid fast food tax. A single Mom cant afford to take her kids to buy them an occasional Happy meal without it costing an arm and a leg. Its like the city wants to punish their own citizen and force them to eat in Richmond more often. How stupid is that?
