supposed to be by clock number and somewhat by department on lay off. which is a shame cause some of the older hands don't do an hour's worth of work in a ten hour shift. and as far as saving money they waste enough on painting and sealing the floor, buying robots to do welding when an actual person can do it better and faster, to pay a good man's salary for a year.if they would do a plant wide drug screen and git rid of the sorry ones that don't do anything, they would probably not have to lay off anyone.

no jaybo091 they don't lay off by dept. They do what ever they want when they want to. There is no ryme or reason for most of it. I guess that how big business works, You come up with the most complicated solution for the simplest problems. Common sence and morals are out the window it's the bottom line that matters. They'll tell you whats bad for you is good for nacco as a whole.

I work at the greenville, N.C. NMHG. We will be having are talk tomorrow 11-20-08. The way Nacco works is by clock number or company senority. Which sucks but that is the way NACCO is. Totally backwards. I hope the best for all of you and sorry to hear the news.

I feel sorry for the folks who want to stay at NACCO getting laid off. But you all must remember, NACCO is a coal company, who sends workers into mountain coal shafts every day. They lay off according to a loose confederation of guidelines, quickly recreated to suit what is handy at the time.
I worked there over 20 years and was lucky enough to get out 20 months ago, got my 401 liquidated at 13,000 pts on the stock market and paid off most everything I owe.
The one thing I noticed is that someone suggested laying off older folks or a plant wide drug test. If they hadn't kept bringing in somebody's little girl who was about as big as one of my legs, maybe they wouldn't have needed to hire so many any way.
It actually kept getting harder instead of easier the longer I was there. I don't miss those assholes running that joint, but I do miss my buddies.
Oh, by the way, when was the last time someone pulled a prank in there anyway. I heard everybody hates the management and the bosses and managers all suck.

I believe thankful is being sarcastic just in part because everyone is thinking Obama is the great messiah, I have news for you there is only one messiah, and he will come as a thief in the night, he is being a smart a**, but half of the country thinks the crisis we are going through will get better, I'm here to tell you it's not going to get better, it will get worse.

nacco g-ville thinks is ass backwards to lay off by clock number. Well I guess you've been a NACCO employee long enough to realize that suck points, golf points, fishing points, giving up that p***y points and all the other buddy-buddy shit that goes on at that finely honed-state-of the-art Factory Of The Future really will keep some suck from getting let go and someone senior geting laid off. That's why there have been about 9 union votes in the 35 years Hyster, Hyster-Yale and NACCO have faced since the plant opened. Good luck Berea's NACCO--you're the next factory their gonna close down.

I am glad you guys didnt think I was serious. I feel that Obama is going to hurt us. with his tax plan but before you Bush bashers start. I was sick of his crap to. He WAS THE biggest democrat we have had since Carter. I think he was a democrat. He gave more money for b.s than any conservative ever.Right now we need a true conservative. To get us out of this dem or rep. We cant tax big companys they will fold or be forced to let people go to pay the extra tax .We all know that if the stockholders are not making money they will pull out and go elsewhere so in fact what I am telling you is. Obama has made too many promises and the media who put him in office will turn on him. They will destroy him. Joe Biden if he was for change looks like he would have done so 20 years ago. He has been in politics long long time. I just hope everyone likes the change thats coming.I also hope that I am wrong.

Ask not what your company can do for you, but what you can do for your company.....

There were some that took volunteer layoff they will be called back first according to clock #'s then from there they will go by clock #'s for the ones that were in the original layoff. They have already called some that took volunteer layoff.(The number of people called is unknown). We hope and pray things will continue picking up so every one will be called back.....

I worked at NACCO as a temp a few years back. I liked the job and most all the people there. It is a sad thing for them.
A few people were mean and nasty to me, though. They made indirect slurs regarding temps within my hearing shot. To those people, I can only say...Looks like we are all temporaries after all.
