Why are they really closing? Someone please be honest.

Nothing indicating so on their website. However their website appears to have not been updated in five months.

Their concept, for Berea, is a bit of an odd nitche. However I suspect that in Lexington they would do really, really well.

The owner is moving to Colorado, I think. Anyhow, no one bought it, and so it's closing Saturday, 15th of Decemeber.

Rumors abound that it may keep on as a community center. Who knows how that will be funded.

Old Town,

That's the conversation I heard. Though I'm not shure how they'd know. They sounded pretty upset like it was true. I heard them say Saturday was going to be the last day.

Question... If the place was as successful as I am lead to believe, and there were a quiet a few involved in the operation,(see their website) why didn't some of the workers take it over? I would think that the investment would have been rather small.

On the other hand there have been numerous eateries in that area that died. Hogg BBQ and Penny's Cafe come to mind. Come to think of it, there was a sandwich / hotdog shop beside Gastineau Studio for a few months.

I will certainly miss all the wonderful shows! I've definitely had some outragous times there with music playing and watching the fire spinners and hula hoopers and watching movies at the Free-ater down the road. It was a great family atmosphere. The pot pies are delicious ass well. They'll be missed!
I'm not sure if all the rumors are getting mixed up or if i don't have all the whole story myself. I know the owners of the Black Feather are moving. So is the person who started the Berea Community Resource project ( http://www.facebook.com/groups/18088162537671... ). She is moving to Colarado. I can't remember where the Black Feather folks are going. The Berea Community Resource Project will continue, however. I hope to see this flourish and it would be interesting to see them have a physical location where the Black Feather is now.

Currently, I work at the Black Feather and I want to set the record straight. The Black Feather is closing because the owner is moving and does not want to run the business from a distance and the co-owner does not want to run the business alone. Our owner isn't moving to Colorado or Washington, so please stop spreading that rumor. Us employees considered taking over the business but, believe it or not, it was actually more of an expense than we could all bear. Thank you for all the love and support that many of you loyal customers have given us over the years. We'll miss all of you and we'll certainly miss working at The Black Feather. Our last day to be open will be Friday, December the 21st, not the 15th.
It will be missed

I never knew where or what it was. I doubt its leaving if it was a success. Brian Boggs is gone too. Spoon Tavern decided not to serve alcohol.

Berea is really winning...

This town is a joke. Danville should make Berea take down its "Arts and Crap Capital of KY" sign.

The wife and I would buy 4 beers at Papaleno's or Main Street Cafe with dinner if we could. Too bad. We drive 15 minutes north instead.

Eff spoon Tavern. Seriously, a Tavern that has never served alcohol? Really??

I agree with restrnt. Your attitude is horrible. Typical assh***e that complains about how horrible the place he is, yet does not to change it except complain. Typical, so typical.

We are a dry town, Berea is a nice clean town, and if you want a drink with a meal, Richmond is 10 mins away. I have no complaints

Hey, it's their opinion and you wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't true. Just take a look at Danville now since they passed alcohol sales, the downtown area is completely revitalized. Buildings that had been vacant for years and years are now filled with new businesses and there are a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. Oh, yeah and I can have a beer with my tacos if I choose. Which is why we can't get any variety of food in this town and people here in Berea take their business to Richmond so they can have a drink with their meal.
