Easiest way to stop doing drugs without going to rehab is to overdose. Get a job and quit buying the stuff.

I quit heroin after a being a heavy user for years, without methadone, suboxone, benzodiazepines, doctors, and most definitely without god. I slept through it when I could and slugged from a bottle of vodka when I couldn't. I probably smoked a carton of cigarettes.
Coming off of smack is like having the worst flu you can imagine, with the most insane aches and chills and the absolute worst headache. I get nasty migraines on the regular and this was worse.
Four days later, I didn't feel like dying. I still felt like shit for a week.
I was sober for almost five years after.(if you must know, I obtained a level of financial stability that will support a responsible habit).

In my professional opinion, the best thing to do with any drug is to lower your dosage over a few weeks until you can drop it entirely. You'll feel like crap through the whole process, but its better than just kicking all at once. Consider having children throw gravel at you, as opposed to a building falling on you.

If heroin does happen to be your drug of choice, and you truly understand what Burroughs meant when he said "Junk isn't a recreation, its a way of life", I highly recommend kicking it old school at least once. Just stop, on your will alone, if only to better grasp the caliber of what you're dealing with. Some of us really never quit. We just get better at maintaining.

I know a lot of people who traded in (x) addiction for pot, and have been clean since. Say what you want, ganja is safe, and its loads better than drinking your way out.

If you can manage it, the drug Ibogaine will cure any addiction with 1, maybe 2 treatments. Unfortunately, such a wonderful tool is illegal in these "free" United States, but if you find yourself in Mexico a physician will happily direct you to a facility where they could treat you. Do your research on this substance if you're interested, and see for yourself.

I was on 6 80mg oxy's a day back when they made those the old ones anyway, one day i decided i didnt want anything to do with pills anymore, so i decided to quit, i drank lots and lots of Mt.Dew, and ate lots and lots of those little packs of 6 chocolate doughnuts that you can buy for like a dollar or .75 a pack, i wont lie it hurt like hell, my body was aching so bad but i knew i had and wanted to do it, during that time i just isolated myself from everyone cause if anyone would have tried to talk to me i would have went off the deep end on them, it took about 5-6 days for the physical pain to stop, my legs ached so bad i just layed and cried, took ibuprofen/tylenol for that, took immodium for the craps, and pepto for the vomiting cause it would sooth my stomach...also ate bananas for potassium for the cramps...it was hell but thats been over 2yrs ago and today i feel so much better, have more money, and no desire to take a pill ever again....i had to do it this way cause i dont like the AA or NA meeting thing, it might be for some people but just not for me, not knocking it but just not for me...good luck to anyone trying to get off drugs....

I had to go to jail to get off pills. They ruined my life. I remember laying in my bunk wishing I would have asked my family for help. You can only hide addiction for so long we think our family don't know but they do.Get help before it's too late. I don't like NA either but you can get something out of it sometimes. My advice get immodium, tylenol pm, and turn your phone off for a week. It's a lot harder when you know you can get something to make you feel better. The first week is the worst but you won't feel normal for a year. It will take a couple months for your head to clear. Nothing easy about it. I'm sorry I know what you are about to go through. Sleep as much as you can,it's a long process but I've been clean 17 months.

Nov 10th 2012, God willing we will have 4 years clean. Usual story, drink, pot, opiates, shooting dope. The last 2 years were the worst with dope sickness. I was afraid with my job to go to Rehab and it was the worst 1 to 2 weeks of my life. I dont have to describe it, we all know. I still remember the day i got clean, sick of waking up saying I have to do this again. Wish i was dead, it was a job to use to feel normal, not get high. Afraid to go to rehab went to NA meetings alone. took 2 weeks off work, and followed every suggestion. To any one going to rehab or detoxing at home. It can be done. Just do what ur suggested of in meetings, and pray to something, and you can get this.

This area of the state could really use a Rehab facility that facilitates people regardless of their inability to pay. We are in a crisis and its only going to get much worse.
I pray for all and their families who are having to deal with drug addictions.

I struggled with addiction with pain pills and one day I said enough is enough. I got tired of always looking for them and spending all my money on them. I was up to ten lortab 10s a day. It was hard to just stop at once but I found relief in drinking lots of water, immodium and bc or goodys powder. After two or three days the worst was over. Now I take it one day at a time. I had to realize there is no future in trying to get high all day and there will never be an end if you keep doing it. Hopes this helps a little and god be with you!

I have been going through the same thing everyone is talking about for 15 years. You always get to the point that you decide you have to stop, but when the excrutiating phyical pain and the mental craziness sets in, all you can think about is making it go away, and that is why there are so many people who relapse!! Like someone else said, you evetully dont take the pills to get high, you have to take them to feel like you can even get out of bed and feel close to a normal person, or what we can all remember "normal" feeling like!!! I will keep you in my prayers, and I wish you the best of luck in conquering this BEAST!!! It is very close to being impossible, but with God, "ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE, THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD!!!"

My boyfriend used to be really bad into the Oxys, when We weren't even together . We started dating when he was clean for a year and he remained clean up to 2 and a half years . He got an urge one day and it went down hill from there . I broke up with him 3 days ago and he's saying he will do anything to get me back and that he will never hurt me again. He realizes if he keeps doing whatbhes doing they wil fully take over him . He does them every other day. And he has probation so he goes 4 or 5 dad without it when he would need to go to probation... Should I give him another chance ???
