I got a letter from Nacco today saying they appreciate all our work for them.(we did Nacco outsource) It goes on to say how much they think of us, an concludes with Nacco will be moving it's operation to Mexico.

Thank's Nacco management, just what we needed.

I hope they pass a law that says made in Mexico stays in Mexico.

you know thats how the employees at dresser found out, the company supplying gas and nitrogen forwarded a letter they were sent from Dresser Ind. to one of the supervisors and he showed it to some of us before management found out and threatend his job, but it told the Scott Gross co. that they would no longer need them. It wasn't too long after they officialy announced the plant would move to Brazil.

Let me understand this. Are you a Supplier to NACCO Berea, do you make parts for NACCO locally?
I have a close friend in the machine shop business that also makes parts for Berea NACCO, I could never meet the turnaround time, short leadtime.

Does the letter state, they are taking the parts you make for NACCO and giving them to MEXICO plant?

I'll bet the Mexico plant needs work considering all the layoff's here at the Berea plant an all the other plants NACCO owns worldwide!

I'll also bet when the economy gets better, NACCO will want you to take your vendor load back and make for Berea plant once again! I guess, you will have to make a descision at that point on whether you want to do business with this company again or not.(Not suggesting anything, just a thought).
Your business is your business, I'm not trying to tell you your business.

Did the letter come from the local plant or did it come from Greenville, which I think is their headquarters?

Actually I would too. I went school with a bunch of people who work there. I outside work for two companies who does a lot of work for them. And, I do some work for them personally. No one, to date has as much as mumbled a word about Mexico.

Also, their 2nd qtr 2008 financial speaks of increasing the work load at Berea among two other south eastern states.

If there is something afoot, you are apparently the only one who knows about it.

The company I work for makes SPED parts for Nacco Berea KY, Nacco Greenville NC, and Nacco Danville IL, and we got the same letter thanking us for all our efforts over the years and informing us that "Nacco Materials Handling Group" is moving it's operations to Mexico. It mentions that all bills should be in asap so accounts can be settled before the move. It did not state which Nacco, but the wording and the fact that we supply parts for all three Naccos makes us believe the whole shabang is going.

I cannot believe they notified the parts suppliers and have not mentioned it to the employees. That just sucks. I spoke to our purchaser in Greenville and she said all she had heard was from several suppliers across the country calling in and asking her what is up, that other than that she has no idea.

This is kind of amusing. Here is two people claiming to have received letters fron NACCO and people are willing to give an email address to get a copy of them but I don't see anyone passing a copy of the letter.

Come on now let's play straight. If you are holding the royal flush, let's see it!

Just to level the palying field, GUESS WHO, does the names Mullins, Whittemore, Galyen and Holt mean anything to you?

I am not 2nd guessing you. I am just trying to establish who knows who right now.

Diddle, I believe what is happening is just like the letter apparantly say and involves only the PARTS that these folks and businesses make for NACCO.

It sounds to me like NACCO, is just taking all the outsourced parts to Mexico, surely not the truck assembly plants -- it would take NACCO a year to move the Truck Assembly Plants to Mexico.

It must be just the part suppliers, the ones that make the fabricated parts.

I don't know, but like you said, no one has shown that Royal Flush yet.

I will get the leter tomorrow at work and scan it and post it as a picture, or email it whatever. I am not trying to start any shit, just passing on what our boss announced today that he received. I read the thing. We are not Nacco employees, we make outsourced SPED type parts. Why not just go in tomorrow and say this is what I heard? Maybe you will get someone that either knows and will tell you, or they will tell you when they are ready. Jeez people, it's not just us, I spoke with my purchaser in Greenville and she said she was getting lots of calls from everyone from SPED to paint suppliers. She was going to ask around and call us back. But like I said, we do parts for all 3 Nacco plants and the letter covers them all. So if they do not need anymore carriage bars then where are they going to get them. We normally send hundreds a week to Berea, and even more to Greenville.

You got that shit right. We was all working along thinking things were great when the news of the gas supplier letter came around. 6 months later we were all looking for jobs. I had been there 14 years and was senior management, but it came out of the blue. Scott Gross knew weeks before we heard.

The way it happens is they get the plant online in Brazil and then drop the local people to a loading crew level and spend the next 6 months sending equipment out. Then gone.

get a clue people, it was two years after we found the same type letter at Dresser when the people left for lunch and came back to find the doors locked. They dont want you to know because they think you would not be as productive untill they can get out of there, they dont give a damn about you or your debts.

After doing some research, I found what I believe to be the truth.

NACCO (NMHG,INC), from the sound of the letters and the letters context, are pulling the fabricated, SPED, etc from the North American Suppliers and sending it all to Mexico.

For One (To the Company) important reason. They have (need in desperate way) to keep the work force they have in Mexico busy ---- otherwise these people that NACCO has spent thousands of dollars training ----- will go around Mexico finding other jobs ----- and when the economy gets better and business picks up (someday) NACCO would have to spend several more thousand dollars and (eight years more re-training) an entire NEW MEXICAN CREW --- It's simple, It's not right!!!!

Mexico plant is full of Robot Welders and CNC machines (yes our jobs)--- If NACCO does not retain the workers in Mexico, then they will be way behind the eight ball, when the economy gets better. Shame on you NACCO, although heartless, NACCO probably has one of the most intelligent boards (in the way of business) as anyone in the U.S.- Our Jobs Will Be Gone -- "God, I hope Not"
