Can someone provide me information on living/working in Bentonville, AR? I am mid 20's, still working on a degree and would like to land a job with Walmart Corporate. What is the drive like from Bentonville to college at Fayetteville? What is the shopping like around these parts? What is the best thing and worst thing about Bentonville. Any information would surely help me. Thank you.

We has some of de best black-eyed peas, gritts, turnip greens, and possum inards you will find anywhere. And de ride from Bentonville to de college is real smooth, they gets de mules to drag de road and get most of de boulders out of it every spring.

Bentoville/Roger area is growing and offers everything you would need or find in larger metro areas. Have all of the higher end chain restaurants and there are mexican restaurants everywhere. There is a large mexican population in the area. Just built a new outdoor mall with the high end shops, or you can go to the traditional mall in Fayetteville. I-540 is a interstate that runs north from the missiouri border south to I-40. The university has a exit right off of the interstate. It's a great place to live and still have that small town feel.
Worst thing is Wal-mart corp is reducing their work force significantly. Unsure of your degree but you may have a hard time getting onboard. Working there use mean a stable job, no more.

How would a Logistics/Supply Chain Mgmt degree work out in this area?

logistics and supply chain degree is probably one of the better choices..in fact my daughter is in that program at the U of A right now - you will be better off looking at one of the many wal-mart suppliers are opposed to walmart themselves...also JB Hunt is nearby and also would utilize your degree

We just moved to Bentonville and love it! NW AR is a beautiful area and we have everything we need here. The malls have the upscale shops and all the restaurants that you would expect. Good luck!

Grown up here, in Bentonville, my whole life, and the best things about NWA are the trails, small town feel, camping and cannoeing on the elk river just over the mo border. Rogers is different from the rest of the area. Just crossing the by-pass into Rogers is like crossing the border into Mexico. The worst part of this town it definitely the police. They sure dont seem to care about serving or protecting. They care more about harrassing and questioning. probly bc theres way too many of them and not enough bad guys so there bored. **every few months theres a retarded person shot or a drunk person shot for talking back** :(

If u commute at normal rush hour, the traffic north to b'ville is difficult. During off hours, it's 1/2 hour or so. I commute from b'ville south each day & it's 40 mins door to door. Where are you from? Fayetteville is more college town feeling & bentonville is more prof/family. I know lots of people (from both towns) that rarely go to the other town. As for Walmart, I've heard it's best to get your foot in door & work way up. You might also. Consider Tyson as it's in Springdale @ has a lot of intern opportunities.
