Rusty Turner, Benton County Opinion Editor - What's Wrong With Him?

What is Wrong

Fayetteville, AR

#1 Oct 28, 2012
Rusty Turner, Opinion Editor with the Benton County Daily Record, is not qualified to hold his position as opinion editor. Rusty has long held a strong personal dislike for LTC Jim Parsons, along with his buddy Douglas Grant, who was fired for publishing false information about LTC Jim Parsons. Rusty once published - yes published - that Jim Parsons is not qualified to hold any political office position. Rusty Turner has been a major player in the fact that Jim Parsons does not win elections because is it Rusty's position with the local news media that empowers him to bring down LTC Jim Parsons and to mislead the public for his own personal agenda. This is not credible journalism. Just as Douglas Grant was fired, so too should Rusty Turner be fired!

Must not forget to mention that Rusty Turner and his buddy, Douglas Grant, have been attempting to discredit LTC Jim Parsons' 35-year decorated military career. Rusty - you're so jealous of LTC Parsons! Get a life, dude. You're losing your marbles.
Vote for Jim Parsons

Rusty Turner is a member of the Arkansas good ol boy network, which makes his opinions invalid since he has a personal agenda he is pushing. He should be fired just as his buddy Grant Douglas was fired for publishing wrong information about Jim Parsons.

I can't even stand reading his editorials anymore, knowing what I know about him. He turns my stomach. He needs to lose some weight, too. He's a solipsistic, gluttonous, snorting pig!
Vote Parsons NWACC Truste

Zone 1:

Jim Parsons' Career History: Special Forces Paratrooper (Green Beret), Vietnam duty, Army Lieutenant Colonel; Inductee ETSU Football Hall of Fame, High School Football Coach of the Year, Pampa, Texas Area; Professor of Anatomy and Physiology, Texarkana College, 21 years, Division Chairman of Science and Math, NWACC; NWACC Board of Trustees; State Dir. of Arkansas Christian Educator's Assoc.; Sunday School Superintendent. Parsons is a strong advocate for transparency in government. He is the former renegade board member who has the character, conscience, and courage to do what is moral and ethical. He stands up for human rights and ethical and fair treatment.
NWACC Victim 1007 wrote, "I have come to know Mr. and Mrs. Parsons over the past several years. Having gotten to know Mr. Parsons through his TIGG meetings, other events, and numerous phone conversations, I have to say that he is the most honest, caring, genuine, kind-hearted, conservative, humanitarian who has the best interest of his constituents, friends, and acquaintances in mind. I have been involved in conversations with LTC Jim Parsons in which citizens expressed their grievances and LTC Parsons listened carefully and cared enough to give them the best advice possible. Furthermore, I admire his gumption and bravery in always standing up for what is right. LTC Parsons is a man of great integrity whom I feel very fortunate to have met in my lifetime. The world would be a much better place if we had more LTC Parsons around. And NWACC will be much better off if he is on the board".

Scott Grigsby - on the other hand, is not our pick because he is a member of the Rotary Club, along with corrupt NWACC VP Steven Gates, and works for Arvest Bank where corrupt NWACC President Becky Paneitz is the Director. Looks like Scott Grigsby would be another Alex Vazquez (current board member), an insider who will cover up for NWACC CEO corruption.

Rusty Turner, Opinion Editor for the Benton County Daily Record, wrote a scathing and libelous article concerning Jim Parsons stating that Parsons "is far from qualified to hold any elective office". The question is, what criterion is Turner using to arrive at this conclusion? To qualify for the office of state governor, one must be 18 years of age and a resident of Arkansas. Parsons' credentials far exceed these two qualifications.

Additionally, what qualifies Turner to judge individuals in such a harsh way? Turner has long had a personal dislike for Parsons, most notably a strong jealousy of Parsons' impressive 35-year decorated military career. Pushing personal vendettas and agendas in the media when one is a journalist is in direct violation of journalism ethics. Turner should be fired as was his buddy, Douglas Grant, for printing misinformation about Parsons in the Bella Vista Weekly news paper in 2011.

LTC Jim Parsons is indeed the best person qualified for an NWACC Trustee position. And it is in every Arkansas tax payers best interest to vote for Jim Parsons!

Zone 2:

David Wilson - a part-time instructor at NWACC. Rusty Turner claims that Wilson is not a good pick as he might have a personal ax to grind with NWACC. For your information, Rusty Turner, Wilson will have to stand in a long line behind hundreds of individuals who have an ax to grind with the ever so corrupt NWACC CEO's. If Wilson indeed does have an ax to grind, well then, bring it on! He's perfect for an NWACC Trustee position. Arkansas tax payers, this is why we are endorsing David Wilson.

Johnny Haney - a local businessman who has done a fairly good job while serving on the board but is too closely connected with the Rogers good ol boys.

Daniel Shewmaker - an influential local with too much Rogers good-ol-boy network clout behind him, too.

Seriously, Rusty, you printed libelous statements about Parsons, which is against the law, let alone against journalistic ethics. I will never read another one of your lousy opinions again. You have lost all credibility with me. Did those corrupt NWACC Rogers good ol boys pay you off?

Indeed, Rusty Turner printed libelous and slanderous statements about Jim Parsons. Who will be holding Rusty Turner accountable?

Parsons Brings Out the Worst, and Most Dishonest, in Local Editors [Rusty Turner Among Them]

"Most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.-Michael Rivero

Jim Parsons of Bella Vista is known as a "gadfly", in the best sense of the word in my view. He has a nose for finding corruption and a knack for asking the right questions. This makes him very unpopular in some circles. Among them appears to be the Editorial Board of the Benton County Daily Record. And that's OK with him. They don't have to love him, but they at least ought to tell the truth about him. The editors fell far short of even that low standard when they issued endorsements for the Trustee Position for NWACC, for which Parsons is a candidate.

Among other nasty things, the editors claimed that Parsons "was not qualified for any elected office." Look, if you don't like the guy, just lay out the facts editors. They have the bully pulpit. Why do they have to make outrageously false claims which can only further erode whatever shred of credibility their pages might retain in the minds of the more informed members of our community? But then again, that might not have been their target audience. Statements like that one can't be intended to fool critical thinkers, because the statement is an obvious lie. Such verbage is much more fitted to herding the weak-minded to a desired destination.

Just to document how outrageously false this statement from the editors of the Benton County Daily Record was and is, consider that the legal requirements for the office are only that one be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the district for two years, and not have been found guilty of a felony. In the most literal sense, it is obvious Parson's meets the technical qualifications of the office, but this hardly scratches the surface. In fact, his resume showed him to be the most qualified candidate for the office by a country mile.

A former Green Beret and Lt. Colonel, Parsons taught Physiology and Anatomy at Texarkana College (a college much like NWACC) for over 20 years. Prior to that he was a public school teacher and award-winning football coach. He was the State Director of the Arkansas Christian Educators Association and a Sunday School Superintendent. But those are not even among the qualifications that made Parsons the most qualified candidate by a wide margin! He was also.....wait for it.....wait for it........

The Division Chair at the Science and Math Departments at NWACC! But there is more! Also among his qualifications: He had previously held the office for which he was running! That's right. Parsons has already served a term as an NWACC Trustee!

As of this writing, the vote totals are not in, which is an outrage and a story in itself. But at last count Parsons was behind by something like a mere 23 votes. I fear when the votes take this long to count, close races tend to turn out the way that The People Who are Running Things Now want them to turn out. Those people don't want the meticulously honest Jim Parsons.

Once upon a time, newspapers were supposed to ask the hard questions of The People Who are Running Things Now. Somewhere along the line, many newspaper editors have lost their way. They have become the Defenders of The People Who are Running Things Now. Not only will they not ask such people the hard questions, in other words not only will they not do their job, but quite the reverse. They use their position to attack and sully the reputations of those who ask hard questions of The People Who are Running Things Now. They won't do what traditionally has been their job and instead attack those who do the job they won't! People like your humble blogger, and Jim Parsons.

I know you all love Mr. Parsons, but he has been on the NWACC board before and sued them for a violation of free speech and lost when he tried to make public an internal memo regarding a personnel issue. Mr. Parsons may be well intentioned but is so divisive that he keeps any real business from being accomplished. You need someone that will fix things not start wars.

What does this have to do with Rusty Turner's editorial propaganda?
