I worked for walmart for 5 years 10 months. I worked as the department manager of 5 departments. I had no help and was frequently pulled out of my 5 departments to work other departments or to go to the front to work as a cashier. On April 13, 2009 the so called "assistant" over me named edwyle cunningham fired me. For the last 6 months before this, I had already talked to management about her and how i was tired of the hostile working environment that I was in around her. I used the "open door" policy and basically got no response. I explained this fact in the letter that I wrote to our store manager went no where either. I had told other members of management that I felt she was fixing to fire me. Less than 2 months after that letter and my informing other managers of this I was fired. 5 different departments are hard to run by one person, but made worse by her actions. I was treated like a piece of crap by her and everyone knew it. She did not like me at all and proved that on several different occassions. I just wonder how walmart, being the so called "family oriented company" that they claim to be, deals with crap like this. Oh, I forgot. They don't care about anyone or anything except the all mighty dollar. To heck with the employees. They don't amount to anything. Maybe one day they will realize they need the employees more than the employees need them. The walmart that I worked at is in Stuttgart, Arkansas. I was trained in all the departments except deli and pharmacy. Don't let them tell you that knowing how to run most all departments is job security. I am here to tell you it is not.

I would just like to caution you about using an individuals name who is not a celebrity or public personality (such as a politician etc). Such actions can leave you open to civil suit. As I am sympathetic to your problem, I would hate to see such actions brought against you... I am sure you and your family have enough problems.

Sounds to me like you may have grounds for a wrongful dismissal suit. If you have had good performance reviews until her appearance, it would help greatly.

As for what sort of business Wal-mart is... it has changed a lot since Sam died. You are right that they do not give a damn about employees, not when they can replace anyone with in about five minutes, and have a new employee (usually a temp for the first year) that has no seniority or accumulated benefits. The good ole days of a boss being loyal to employees who have a long history of loyalty to the company are ancient history.
