Family struggles to deal with loss after fatal crash

A makeshift memorial can be seen on East Walnut Street where Pat Garthwaite was killed by a driver police say was drunk.

Just say that if the drunk driver hit his own grandchild,because the driver he hit never got to see her own grandchild,or if he took out a member of his own family,drunk drivers need stiffer penalties.What happened to going to jail?

Why is this man out on the street?He needs to get life,after all he took a life.Three priors i guess makes this a chance to say whether guity or not,when is this going to end,after another life is taken.

Drunk drivers are oblivious to all traffic and signs, and no doubt Gingrich would not have stopped after killing Mrs. Garthwaite if not for his truck flipping over. Mr. O'Dell the driver that Ginrich hit and ran from is lucky to be alive, and I'm glad he survived Gingrich's drunken frenzy. I recently read that Mr. O'Dell is now "wrongly" being sued basically for stoppping to call 911 to help Mrs. Garthwaite when he could have just limped himself and his badly damaged car to the hospital and completely ignored the slaughter scene. So much for stopping to help others and the police!

I and all my brothers and sisters are in no way part or condone Mr. Garthwaite's legal action against Mr. O'Dell. We tried to talk Mr. Garthwaite out of that. We believe Mr. O'Dell is an innocent victim. We are sorry for him being dragged into such a terrible situation. Thanks

I stopped drinking totally because of stories like this one. I wish the family love, peace and forgiveness for that will help the healing.
