WHAT ABOUT THIS

Sikeston, MO

#1 Feb 2, 2009
Our fine Sheriff and Mr. Burger were both MIA during Disaster. Generator at jail was not maintained like it should have been and they were without power. Neither were coordinating with Joel Evans. Sheriffs Dept. personell were told that they were working regular shifts, were not working any overtime. Neither were working to check on county residents or supporting any efforts with the EOC in Sikeston. Joel Evans was working daily with all county and regional personell for the safety of the residents on his own. He deserves a great deal of grattitude. Thanks Joel, Come on Scott County lets get rid of the other two idiots!

Well.......where were you at???? Probably doing the same thing. Cry some more, what do you expect him to do..go house to house and hold idiots like yourselves hands and keeps. Have you ever heard of fending for yourself. Try it sometimes, it works. Dont be mad at the sheriff because you were to lazy to get your ass out of the house and buy a generator. Are you better than everyone else who did. I guess the sheriff was supposed to repair all the electrical lines himself right???? Get a life you moron!!!!!!!!!!

What was Rick Walter supposed to have done that he didn't do? Were you not warned of this storm and the possibility of power outages? If you chose not to listen to the warnings and prepare yourself and your family, you cannot blame someone else for your ignorance. There were also warming centers for those who did not have a generator. No, it's not ideal and it's not home, but it sure beats the alternative. Instead of pointing fingers and putting the blame on someone else, prepare yourself for the next disaster. The next one might be worse.

No, I don't work for him. I just know how to take care of myself and my family. By the way, I think you meant "loser" not "looser". So, why don't you take your head out of your ass for a little while and quit complaining?

Mma, do you just have a personal vendetta against Mr. Walter, or are you just trying to find something to complain about? You should not make fallicious judgements on a person without knowing all of the facts. Could there have been some reason that you did not see him out? How do you know that he wasn't? There could have been some circumstances, not known to you, that would have kept him from being out protecting. If you are trying to offend "give me a break" by calling him/her a sorry a$$ loser crybaby, I don't think it will work, since all this person is doing is defending his/her strong opinion. If anyone, you mma are the crybaby, since you are the one that's complaining. Next time that you decide to try and mock or degrade someone, please do it with a gesture or vocabulary greater than that of a third grader. Profanity gets you nowhere in an argument, because it just shows how low you go to try and make someone feel bad. I truly feel sorry that you dropped out at sixteen and skipped those crutial years of grammar...

I will tell you once more, profanity get you nowhere in an argument besides showing your opposition how low you go to try and offend them, and once again I truly feel sorry for your ignorance.

I dont like to use profanity, never really have, but im tired of people standing up for someone who is out for himself!!!

So im sorry for cursing you, I should have never done that, but I do stand my ground about what I said.

The only time you see the sheriff is during election time, so I have a difference in opinion.

Mma, I respect a reply like that and I respect your opinion as I do all well-said opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own.
I personally like Sherriff Walter and I believe that he does a good job. I know there are many that would disagree with me on that stance, and I understand that it is my personal opinion.

I just don't see how it's such a big deal that people didn't see him out in this ice. In all truthfulness, what could he have done? I mean you had MODOT trying to clear the roads, and SEMO elec. and Ameren trying to get power up. There wasn't too much need for the sherriff's dept to go into overtime. It's not like there was extreme crime to worry about, except stealing generators, which wouldn't really have been stopped whether they were out or not.

Its "then," and I said no need for overtime, not no need at all; just for clarification to those that didn't understand.

He could have coordinated with emergency management. He could have overseen the services to the jail and made sure everything was running. He could have managed his people so that wellness checks were conducted. There are elederly in the county that don't have family to help them. And as a daughter of a former cop I know that for most cops family has to step up and take care of things at home because as soon as an emergency hits they are gone serving the public. At least that is what real cops do.

Morons! I saw Mr. Walter out several times during the ice storm and wasn't even looking for him. Those of you who follow his every move must not be very good at it. You should have been helping your neighbor instead of being on "Sheriff Walter Watch". Besides, he has capable people working for him and from what I could see they all did a fine job. You sound like you want him to go to Sikeston DPS micro managing class. Did Chief Juden come over and cut your tree limbs, gas your generator, or scrape your windows?
