There are 17 comments on the Southeast Missourian story from Jul 25, 2009, titled New witness found in 1992 Lawless murder. In it, Southeast Missourian reports that:

Scott County investigators say they still hope DNA tests will provide a forensic link to the 1992 murder of Angela Mischelle Lawless, and the recent discovery of a new witness in the case, one who says he tried to tell his story shortly after the murder occurred, may help further narrow the field of suspects.

The way the law works is if they have a criminal or suspect in mind or in custody guilty or not they run with it. Look into the Martindale murder and tell me what you think of that. There was a post on here before but apparently someone got scared and had it dropped. Go to www.rickdclay.com you will see the information there.

nothing against you or your family, but the difference between your case and the lawless is this poor girl was murdered, and rick is on death row for murder...

i remember the ricky clay ordeal, yeah there was some messed up stuff in there, and he was the fall guy, but he has to pay for what he did, he made a bad choice in the choice he made and the life he chose to live, im sorry...i could only imagine being in your shoes, but its all in gods hands

yes you are right he needs to pay for the choice he made um that is he sold drugs not murder big difference. Yes it is in God's hands. The only bad thing in this situation is getting the person who knows what really happened to step forward and tell the truth. The sad part is it won't happen anytime soon due to everyone is too afraid what might happen to them if they did. They are afraid of being marked and having those involved come after them.

Then why doesn't someone do something? This really stinks about how people can do whatever they want and get away with it. I look at it like this you do the crime you pay the time should not matter who you are. Same goes for my brother what crime he did (meaning drugs as well) he needs to pay for it. If a person stole something they should pay for it. Not lie about it or have someone lie about it under oath either. I am so sorry about your dad. I hope when I get through law school I can help make a difference. I also hope that who ever killed Mischelle gets theirs as well. I don't see why the family doesn't try to do a can drive in Scott City at the red lights to help with the DNA testing cost. I know it is not right that the family help with trying to raise money to help find the person who did it but if it were my daughter or sister I would make up shirts with her picture and be out there every weekend trying to get donations to convict the person who did. I would do it for my brother but the only way he would get help is if the govenernor gave him a stay of execution and a miracle to boot came with it. I do wish the family all the luck.

We are doing a benefit to help raise money for the dna testing to be completed. On August 8th and 10:00 we will be having a carwash and bakesale and the Benton City Hall please feel free to come bye. On Aug. 30th we will be having Gospel singing at the Benton Baptist Association Grounds all donations will be greatly appreciated. We are trying to come up with different things to do to raise money for the testing. We appreciate any ideas.

Like I stated before try printing shirts and having a can drive in Scott City at the red lights as people are coming off 55 I bet in about 4 hours you can raise over 400 if not more. I did a drive for a friend of mine a few years ago her son had cancer and we had signs with pictures of him and what he had. If I was a betting person since everyone either has heard of the Lawless family or knows them will donate money or help out the best they can. All you have to do is call city hall and find out what dates are available for when you want to do this, they are real friendly about things like this. Maybe even talk to Burger King about using their side lot for a car wash as well or even tallk to the city about the big lot down by the caboose for a car wash/bake sale or maybe even have some sort of music there as well. Just a thought. Maybe even up in Cape by Sonic out by wal mart have a car wash/bake sale there. I know Teen Challenge has theirs there from time to time but I do not know who to contact on that one. Good luck with it. Just remember to try something new broaden your horizon get what you want out there so people who do not know or understand will. God Bless

Also too get ahold of Rental Land and see what it would cost for a dunkin booth to help out as well when you decide to do the singing at the camp grounds and maybe have something like a carnival if you can get all the stuff. Just a thought

She was just answering a question the person before her asked and she did a great job. Furthermore, her brother (I strongly believe) was railroaded for a murder that the man's wife clearly did from the documents I've read in the case. He was not a perfect man at the time and, as he himself admits, was out to sell drugs that night. But somehow the wife/murderer cut a deal to serve a few years and HE ended up on Death Row. Thank the Lord the Gov commuted his sentence to life - but he still shouldn't be spending life in prison for dealing drugs.

Robert, why mention any name unless your just playing Internet Detective? I'm sure the person you named prolly has been spoken to if he had any info don't you? I can only say that I've met the man you've mentioned a couple of times and I can say I've prolly not met a more Christian, Generous, Intelligent, Devoted Family man in my life. If you know more then you should assist the Sheriff's Dept. and help solve this case.
