I agree that the needline is a blessing to those who need a little extra help with food, but like anything else that's free, it is abused. I personally know people that get it regularly, while their cabinets are full, and give some to other people who don't need it! Therefore, taking from those who really need it, but there's none left. Is'nt there a way to cut down on needline abuse?
People, if you don't need it, leave it for someone who does. By the way, I have never went to needline for food, so this is not a selfish need on my part. |

No I agree, I also know of abuse thats exactly why I don't really feel Like contributing to Needlines cause. Severe abuse going on and I cant beleive that they dont know that alot of the regulars customers are abusing or wasting the food given to them. At least ask them to their face if they really need it and make them lie instead of dishing it out no questions asked!!

I don't contribute to needline either. I have heard of too much misdirected money in that organization. I think they need an outside audit cause they might reveal some interesting events.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-----my wife and i dont use or need any of those services-----HOWEVER we do help old people and the shut in elderly by getting theirs and delivering. Same with the food stamp card . we have long since stopped explaining its not for us to people that look at us like we are leaching off the system.INSTEAD of getting on here trashing the system---get up and help the people that need help.maybe you can make a positive difference in an old persons life.

My parents where needing some help once, while I was away. When they went to the Needline just to get enough food for about 2 weeks, they where turned away, because they didnt draw food stamps!!! I told them to go to the Benton church of Christ, and the church of Christ, brought them two car loads of food and supplies...I will NEVER support the Needline...EVER..

Needliune is very abused, just like food stamps, churches that help, etc. A lot of people are neglecting their children and bills and selling what they get free for drugs!

Needline is a great place and most clients do not abuse it. The employees are so nice and helpful.

I think it's wonderful that churches and places like needline help. But here's the problem, people become dependent upon the help. At first they approach humbled and perhaps even a little embarrassed they need help. But it's natural, the more they come the easier it gets to ask for help. And before you know it, gratitude develops into entitlement. I've witnessed this at my church, we help people every week. And then you have families that virtually breed this type of mentality. I've seen this behavior in grandparents, children and grandkids. From one generation to the next, dependency on others gets passed down. And when you are in that type of lifestyle, it's an easy jump to being deceitful. It's a very sad decline.

You will have this abuse of the systems, but in order to help the children, elderly and the sick we must continue to be benevolent. Remember we are doing what we are called to do in our hearts, after that if out gifts are misused we still have done the right thing. |

You are absolutely correct! We plant the seeds, God cultivates. The seeds don't always sprout at first, but we must trust that God knows what he is doing and these people, no matter if their intentions are poor, are in His care. |

I think Needline should be for those people who make a little too much to be elegible for food stamps. People who get food stamps are going to have food to eat. But people who make just a few bucks too much to get food stamps could use the food.

All the poor people I see are big fatties. Give your donations to help other causes. Lots of good causes out there and handouts to deadbeats is not for me.

I suggest giving to a family that you KNOW is having a hard time and would appreciate some extra food in the house. Pick your own cause. There's plenty out there that would appreciate someone caring.

For all you pathetic losers that say you dont donate- who cares. There are plenty of people and organization/businesses that contribute several times a month añd are happy to do it. Donations of all kinds come in EVERYDAY so go and sit on your selfish FAT butt and smoke your dope and drink your alcohol.

Know your facts before you comment, you do not have to draw food stamps to get help! If you apply for food stamps you will get more food. If the people that apply for help lie, that's is no ones fault, except the person doing the lying!! Look how many people screw the government with food stamps, they lie their asses off, same way with low income housing. It is not the persons fault that works at the needline, they have specific rules just like any other organization. Far as I know that might be government standards, but one thing I do know, that woman that works in the front office is a very sweet woman. I have been there a few times in my life, and she has always treated me good and never looked down on me. She seems to be very humble
