Whose to blame for the screw up on the new building?

take your pick. The Fiscal Court is blaming the contractor. The contractor is blaming the architect and he is blaming the Fiscal Court. In the end the tax payers (we suckers)pay the extra 800k to fix the mess. Same old story I'm afraid.

YEA. When they could have had it across the street from the old building and saved the co. thousands of dollors. I hope the board are real proud of their decisions. Also getting a contractor outside the co was a dumb dumb move. I heard that the bid was less than $24.000 so they gor what they ask for. We have a contractor in Benton that is competant, honest and his work speaks for itself. This has to be one of the worst decisions made in this Co !

Its not like the health dept.is going to put the new building to any good use. I called in a report of septic coming out of the ground in a neighborhood and still not a thing done about it. Raw sewage in yard, septictank half dug up,and raw sewage under house. Ya,heath dept.just like the rest of the county. If your not in the click with miller, you don't matter.

Yep and they are now paying Pinnacle (the ones who should have been awarded the bid in the first place)$800,000.00 to fix the mess. Great leadership by the board and fiscal court right? Geeez and we will be the ones paying it you know. It should be a crime to be that incompetent.

Looks to my like someone doing the building inspection is partly to blame as well as the person in Frankfort who looked the plans over and approved them without knowing about the ada bathrooms.

Actually the money to fix it is coming from law suits. Those involved are having to pay for their mistakes to be fixed, not the taxpayers.
So make sure you are better informed before you start saying negative things.

I agree if the law suit works out and fault is found. I spoke with people involved and the usual time for these cases is 5 years. They have already hired Pinnacle to fix it at the tune of 800k so I hope the money that is awarded goes back to the county in 5 or 6 years from now. But for now it's tax payer funded. I have also heard who ever loses (unless it's the state or county) will simply file bankruptcy so we again will be paying for it. I'm just upset about the level of incompetence that this could even happen. 800k is a bunch of money to waste.

ADA is only minor part of issue. Bldg does not meet code. They have to tear off brick outside and remove roof to fix issues. Our county bldg inspector dropped the ball on this as well as the state. Poor leadership from top down.

No kidding? Wow! How did they overlook such obvious stuff? I also read where the county politicians all got raises as well. Geez what a joke. They screw the pooch and get raises? That makes sense to me.
