I have heard that Brian has told alot of people he dosn't like the rescue squad and wants them to disband because the fire departments should be doing what the rescue squad is doing. After learning that, I do not think that he could be fair to all departments. I do not think the director should be a cop either.

I am not sure where "Fair " got their info. but find these statements very hard to believe. I have known Brian for years and speak with him several times every week. I have never heard any such comments from him. The rescue squad has a very much needed and valuable place in this counties emergency response plan as do the fire depts. I am curious as to what it is that the rescue squad is doing that anyone thinks fire depts should be doing. They don't fight fires and we don't do search and recovery on the lakes or look for missing persons or assist with county functions like the county fair UNLESS ask to assist. We are all volunteers and will help where ever needed when requested.

IN THE END BRIAN WOULD STILL MAKE A GREAT CHOICE FOR E-911 DIRECTOR

Brian told me this to my face. If you thought a Benton Cop was bad as 911 director wait till you get a firman pretending to be a cop in there.

I can not agree more with the above comments except one. Fair Brian is a very good friend of mine. I have known him for years. I am proud to say he is my friend and that he is fine man and a great emergency responder. I myself like him have our opinions of the rescue squad. The rescue squad is a viable and valueable asset to this county. They are like the fire departments all volunteer. We work well together. Under past adminastration of the rescue sqaud we have not had this same feeling. However under the current adminstration with curt curtner as chief and the people he has that work with him. YOu can honestly ask for a better group of guys to work with. Chief Curtner has made tremendous strides with the rescue squad. The fire departments and rescue squad work together as a whole and assist each other were and when needed. Under the old adminstration it was not as so. To make such a remark as this is uncalled for and just shows how fair some people can be. It doesnt matter who gets the job as E-911 director if they are law enforcement fire ems or rescue squad. The main priority is that we continue work together to improve this countys emergency commncations and response. We are all in this together and not as individuals. We are a family and like with any family we have are problems and fights but in the end we are their for each when it matters.

I'm just glad I'm not running for office! LOL

I think Curt and the squad are extraordinarily useful and do great work. I just read that above comment (thanks) and yes I agree. As I may not have seen eye to eye with previous administrations you can't ask for a better guy than Curt. I do wish they had better opportunities for funding, that way they wouldn't have to spend their volunteer energy raising money.

Now as far as the "pretending" I can't dignify a response other than I don't pretend to do anything, I just do it.

I shouldn't be the focus here, the point is that Marshall County is looking for a new E911 director and we all want the best we can get.

Exactky right Brain. I just love how things can always be counted on to get off the topic at hand and how some people focus on different non important matters at hand

It seems to me that many people think that you can do a good job Mr. Andrus. As a retired emergency worker and as someone that has been around for a few years I say simply. Apply! Ive done some research and it seems you would be qualified much more so than what have had in past or may currently have Im not so sure about. Regardless it seems you have the support of the emergency community so simply do what you think is best and if you think you can do the job. Then apply and become a 911 director and move this county forward in emergency response

How do you justify your comment fair. Who would you be refering to. I will go on he record to say that our dispatchers are some of the best. They have to put up with a lot of bullshit and more than you will ever know. It seems to me that you speak of things you have no clue about

My one peice of adivce... Brian, don't post on here any more. You have made yourself look very intelligent, fair and dedicated to the safety and welfare of the county by your posts so far.
The problem is, one statement taken the wrong way will have you eaten alive by the rabid animals that are topix commenters. Run... and don't look back. Apply for the job... and forget you ever read this...

And just so we're clear. Mr. Curtner and the rescue squad are incredible, self-sacrificing people who deserve nothing but the utmost praise for the work that they do. The same can be said for the fire dept's around the county. People bitch and moan, but can never truly picture themselves in the heroic positions that these folks find themselves in. They ARE better people than virtually all of us.

Any one has to be better than who they have now. From what I 've seen of the Director now when he is at the Elks he has no business in 911 or law enforcement

What does it matter what the director does while they aren't breaking the law..Mike Miller, Brian Roy, Jerry English, Danny Nelson and Gary Atkins used to be at the riverboat drinking, smoking and gambling EVERY weekend..but I guess its ok for them. Who cares..people have a right to live their own lives.

I would say a qualified dispatcher is someone who has 5 or more years experience. Being a police officer, fireman or anyother person doesnt qualify you for the the job. The job is simply more than that. I guess the board of that agency should ask themselves why none of the senior dispatcher put in for it. But likely answer is because they dont care
