I hate it when the kids come home all hyped up on the promise of these crappy "prizes" that the school bribes them with to sell magazines. Why is it considered ok to use the kids to sell stuff for the school? I have to be the bad guy and tell the kids no. We live in the sticks there is nobody to sell them too! This crap happens every year!!

You could find some other parents who agree with you and and bring it up at the school board meeting. I agree they use our kids to make money and this has been going on way too long.

That's what we did they are happy now but it makes me sad that on "Reward for selling our crap day" (which should not exist) she won't get to attend the party. Guess I will take her to the movies that day.

I think it is too dangerous for kids to be out selling door to door. Even if you sell to family and friends, then you have to go sell then go deliver...look at your fuel costs. Just write the school a check for $10 or $20 dollars...which will be more than what they get from selling that crap. As for the reward party...just take your kid out of school that day so they are not reprimanded from not selling and have "your day" with your child. If the school wants money raised, tell them to ask the parents to sell...not the kids. I have never participated in the kids selling activities and I never will. Not because of the money but because of how they penalize those who don't sell or don't sell enough.

if elementary kids are going to sell stuff at least make them sell something like candy bars or candles that will sell. we had fundraisers for high school baseball team and candy bars and candles sold very good {candles sold good after the ice storm }!!
