You need to date a black guy, move to those apartments in Hardin and get on meth to achieve the full effect of being a total loser.

I'm about sick of people talking about people that have to have assistance. You should be greatful if you have never been in a bad spot and actually needed it to survive as I have in the past. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've had to have daycare assistance and medical cards for my girls. Heck my husband works full time and we get a little food stamps. Its really not like what you think. Yes I know they're are way too many people that abuse the system and don't even try to be a productive member of society, but not everyone. I was a single mom at 1 time with 2 small children (they have the same dad, so don't even go there). It is a requirement that you MUST work or volunteer at least 20hrs a week in order to get daycare assistance...I was making 3.15 an hr as a waitress working as much as my employer would let me which was never over 25hrs a week...I wasn't making much money at all and couldn't get a 2nd job because there weren't any daycares open at night and even with the assistance I still had to pay a $60 co-pay every week to the daycare. Ok as far as cash assistance...you only qualify for that if you're not receiving child support. The state gives you child support once a month and then they try and collect from the childs father...they took all of my exs tax return bc he wasn't paying me and he had to pay the state back what they paid me, to support his kids...you must be working or volunteering at least 20hrs a week to be eligible for the state child support also. They are very strict on some state assistance programs and then not strict enough on other ones, like food stamps. Its very simple to get food stamps, but there is a lot of crap you have to go through to get the daycare assistance. Doesn't make much sense to me, but it is what it is. I'm not trying to bash on anyone, I'm just tired of people thinking that everyone who gets assistance are lazy, druggie bums, when actually there are a lot that aren't.

some people do need the help, no one denies this. it's this loser that started this topic that everyone has a problem with. they take away from the people that really do need it.

It's unfortunate that you can't tell the original poster of this thread was merely making a point.

Hey I can't blame this gal. I work and by the time the govt is through scamming me I barely make enough to pay the gas to go to work. I think she is on to something.

I do my best not to spend a penny because I don't want to give our gov one dime of my money. I live on Social Security which I paid in for years and will never collect all back. It breaks my heart what this country has become. The only folks that have good jobs are govt workers and big oil executives.

OMG! I can't believe you really believe that! Ha! Look, this is the way I see it. The original post was a comment only to make a point. He/she is being sarcastic. They are probably fed up like many of us are at seeing users of the system. So his/her comments are to make a point, at how stupid people are.
NO! I do not support people abusing the help they receive. There is no honor in a life like that.

Now, I could be wrong. If I am, let the original poster chime in. Were you being sarcastic to make a point or are you serious? I'd like to think the best of him/her and assume my assumption is correct. But if he/she is serious, then certainly yes, they are a part of the problem. Then what do you propose we do? A public stoning perhaps? LOL

the only two ways to stop the trashy people that abuse the system------make poverty a miserable place to be--stop diverting Darwins law.

That is just about the dumbest thing I've read on Topix in at least a month! So you're collecting on the SSI you paid into while working. Good for you. I hope you live long enough to get more back than you paid in. Some people die before retirement age and get nothing back. That's the way insurance works. But to not want to pay "one dime" to your government is stupid. Do you not want police protection? Fire protection? Roads? Should your grandchildren not be educated? Many places in Western Kentucky wouldn't even have electricity without TVA and without Rural Free Delivery of mail, this would be a third world country.
