Your best bet Mom, and all you other do-gooders out there, is to send his ass to the pen and get on with your lives. Brad Chandler is never going to amount to anything, and he will be a constant disappointment for everyone until the day they bury his sorry ass.
Larry,
I am assuming that you have no friends....every thing you post on is about how you knew the person in high school....grow up....high school was over 10+ years ago....

Obviously you do not understand ANYTHING about alcoholism & you seem to be VERY close minded.....People make mistakes....It must be nice to live such a perfect life as you do! YOU APPEAR TO BE A HEARTLESS INDIVIDUAL THAT TAKES PLEASURE IN THE DOWNFALL OF OTHERS....

You SHOULD BE ASHAMED of yourself for the things you have said and especially for what you have said to Brad's mother! It must be nice to be so perfect! I'm glad that you can hide behind your computer and pass judgement on everyone! You are right on one thing....Karma is a bitch & One day it will bite you in the ass for the terrible things you have said about Brad & others.....

Thanks everyone for your enlightening comments,Brad is my son and I'm not proud of the fact that he did this horrible thing, but he is my son and I still love him ,and to the person who knew him in school, why didn't you try to help him instead of trying to ignore him. He was raised in a christian home, but he chose the wrong patrh to go down.
Mrs. Chandler,

I am sooo very sorry for everything you are having to go thru....I have known Brad for many years & I completely understand his disease....Many people can not & will never understand....I don't know if you have ever attended Al-Anon meetings, but I think that you might find some comfort there....I am a recovering alcoholic & I can tell you that when I was drinking, I NEVER thought of consequences....I never knew how my actions & my drinking impacted the lives of my family & the lives of others....I pray for all families involved in this tragedy....I also pray that God will use Brad for a greater purpose now....I pray that maybe one day Brad will be able to turn this tragedy into something positive....He may be able to help other alcoholics....Praying for you always....

I have know Brad for many years. He might have made some mistake but was a good person.I am ashamed of the way people use this site to somehow get a good feeling out of downing others when they need to take in consideration that there are two wonderful families involved and small children in each family. Larry in my opinion it looks like u need to be added to eveyones prayer list as well due to how horrible of a person you actually are. to say the things to his mother the way you did is horrible. God bless both families.

I understand very well that high school ended several years ago. But, I have kept my ear to the ground and monitored some of these loser's every since then. I am not, nor ever claimed to be, perfect. But I did not spend my life in and out of trouble or jail. I had a cousin who was killed by a drunk driver that he was riding with, and even though I never met the guy, if I did I would whoop his pathetic ass. This crap about praying for these dirtbags and hoping that they will change is a pipe dream. It's time to wake up and admit that you failed as a parent, cut your losses, and move on with your life. Maybe "mom" should concentrate on any grandkids Brad left her, and see if maybe she can do a better job this time. People like Brad Chandler who have not figured life out by now, never will. He will be a constant source of disappointment for the rest of his and everyone elses lives. By bailing your child out of crap like this, especially if he is truly an alcoholic, makes you an enabler. I can guarantee that a few good years in prison would either sober him up for good, or provide him with a permanent home. Either way "mom", everyone wins. Stop trying to pray his way out of trouble, and urge the courts to punish him to the full extent of the law. It may suck for a few years, but it will be better for your family and the community for at least 5 years hopefully.

why are you so concerned with expressing your anger toward someone elses misfortune? Sounds like your own anger issues need to be dealt with then you would not focus on others problems. you know most of the time when people do this its because they dont want to take a look at thier own self. I feel sorry for you to have to live the kinda life that makes you so miserable. May God be with you when Karma comes your way!!!!

LARRY WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU SPEAK TO A MOTHER THAT WAY? ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HER SON WAS INVOLVED. YOU SPEAK ABOUT KARMA IN YOUR POST. I PRAY FOR YOU BECAUSE THE ONLY KARMA THAT YOU WILL HAVE IS A MISERABLE LIFE. YOU HAVE NOT SAID ONE WORD OF BEING INVOVLED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE FAMILIES EXCEPT YOU KNEW ONE IN SCHOOL. SO INSTEAD OF WORRY ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH OTHER PEOPLE THE BEST BET IS FOR YOU TO FIND SOMEONE TO HELP UNTWIST YOUR MIND AND FIND "FORGIVENESS" B/C WITHOUT IT YOU ARE IN FOR A WORLD OF NOTHING BUT TERRIBLE SELF LOATHING PITTY AND SADNESS.
FOR BRAD'S MOTHER I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS PERSON CRUEL AND RUDE BEHAVIOR YOU FAMILY IS IN OUR PRAYERS.

Larry...YOU might not be in this kind of situation BUT someone in your family might be...I think you are just a jerk!
Larry2657 wrote:
I will never be in this situation, because by age 21 I learned not to drink and drive. Its not that hard of a concept to comprehend. And these two were not "boys", they were grown men and should have known better. We have been too lenient for too long on people who drink and drive. Let Brad out of jail and give him a slap on the wrist and see who he kills the next time he gets loaded and goes out for a spin.

Larry...you talk about "whooping" someones' ass.(Maybe you should have paid more attention in English & less attention to the "bad kid" in school.) You are a dumbass and an arrogant ASSHOLE...I would have called you a SOB...but I have more respect for your Mother than that even though I don't even know you or her.
Brad's Mother is my Sister and if you want to "whoop" someone....well come on over to my house and get a little bit of the BS you are talking. Oh, by the way...I'm a Lady.
I think you have made your point here and it seems as if you are a loser, you probably don't have ANY friends and the only way you can get a little enjoyment is to get on here and bash people. You are a dirtbag and I don't care if you are a Paster, judge, lawyer or just your regular low life trash. It seems to me "YOUR" Mother could have done a little better job of bringing up a more respectful person. I won't back down from you but I'm not gonna keep posting on here just how I feel about.
Tell us all who you are, let me come see you face to face and then I'll tell you exactly what kind of "stupid, low life trash that you are.
find another forum to bash people on...your voice on here is just showing your stupidity.
Did Brad take your girlfriend away from you in school or something like that...yeah, I bet that is what it is. You are still living in the past and I bet you got your ragged little ass kicked back then just like you are now.
GO AWAY "LARRY" no one likes you here...oh wait...I bet that is what you heard in school!

I do believe that Brad will get the punishment that is due him. His family is not asking that he get off "scott free" or with a slap on the wrist. I have known the family for a very long time. The Chandler's have three other children and have seven soon to be eight grandchildren, who are very productive. One child who has a disease is not a failure as a parent. The Chandler's are not enablers; they are parents who care deeply about their children and grandchildren. The Chandler's are not on trial here.

Larry, you have distracted this forum to bashing individuals. I am sorry that your life is so miserable that this is your escape. I hope you find something more positive to put your energy into besides sitting on a computer all day. I believe from reading the posts, no one has asked to let Brad out to return to his old ways. Everyone has said that they hope he turns his life around after this, meaning whatever sentence he gets. I work with individuals everyday that have substance abuse and mental health problems; it is a disease that takes year to manage, not cure.

Brad is a caring individual, but he has his problems, as everyone else does. The only perfect man to walk the Earth is watching over us all, even you, Larry.

God, please be with the Chancellor and Chandler family through this tragic time. Please guide and protect Charlie and Brad's children from the public harassment that is to come. Please guide the hearts of the public to remember where the blame belongs. Amen

YOU Larry are a real piece of shit! that is my sister you are talking about...you know... the Mother you said was a failure. I would really like to know who you are so I could see how "good christian people with no demons and no faults, with the perfect little life" lives. THIS IS HOW YOU ARE PORTRAYING YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY...AND I WILL BET THAT IF YOU IDENTIFIED YOURSELF YOU would see that there would be someone on here to tell you how WRONG you are...you hide yourself by a silly little name of "Larry2657". I bet you have more "dirty little secrets" in that simple little mind of you's than most of us.
God forgive me...but I hope you have a flat tire today and just as you are getting ready to fix it I hope you step in a big pile of dog shit and then when you go to clean your shoe I hope you have no water, and as you lay down tonight I hope you discover you have a bad case of poison ivy all over your body with no anti-itch cream in your now roach infested house. Sweet dreams Larry2657...

It is so sad when these kinds of events happen. We know somebody failed in their choices and judgments. But alcoholism is NOT a disease. It, like so many other courses we take, is by CHOICE. This young man could have chosen not to drink but he did not and, saddest of all, his young friend paid the price for that choice. Our drunk driver laws are almost a joke ! Sad commentary on intelligent people and courts.

Although I'm sure you're an expert in your own mind, the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) which is published by the APA (American Psychiatric Association) classifies alcoholism (or alcohol dependence) as a disease. A treatable disease, but a disease all the same.
But hey, I'm sure you know better than the APA.

Alcohisim IS A DISEASE that you will fight EVERYDAY of your life. Yes, it is by choice to drink & that first drink leads to so many more to alcoholics. They get very deep into drinking WAY 2 much that it ends up to where their body NEEDS it. On the other hand, it's by choice whether or not you want 2 quit & go through the DT's. After they get to where they don't get sick w/out drinking, it's by choice whether or not they want to stay clean.
