Does anyone know of any mines hiring inexperienced miners? I've been to multiple mines and talked with contractors. They all say they are hiring redhats but I, nor anyone I know has had any luck. I tried Custom Staffing ( What a joke) they send you to one interview and they never return calls. I am desperate and hoping someone could give me some insight on what to do next.

Check at Rend Lake college about getting your coal mine papers Both above and below... Does not take too long but sure helps to know a little.

Good luck. You MIGHT be able to get on at Amcoal (the mcdonalds of the mining industry), but even that's not easy, and almost certainly not guarenteed long-term employment.

Your best bet is to know someone who works in a mine and see if they can help you out. I know miners who have their face papers and are having trouble finding jobs.

I've got my papers. I've been to American Coal. Been to David Stanley Consultants who also put in my resume to AmCoal. I'm a 25year old, strong work, hard working veteran trying to get a good job. I know felons and drug addicts that are working in mines and I guess it just pisses me off that I'm getting dic*ed around so much.

Dude, good luck. Did you get all schooling you could get, using the GI bill? You canĀ“t put your eggs all in one basket. Try the railroads? They were looking for people. Construction? Some other jobs related to, but not directly mining? I know its frustrating. Again good luck.

Try strats contracting. The will get you on anywhere. Then you'll get experience and maybe get a job full time.

I've heard if Strata... Do they have an office anywhere around here? The only thing I could find on them was in Ohio and Georgia.

Go to www.prairiestateenergycampus.com . They are north of Coulterville, have a new mine and a power plant. Apply for Mine Technician on their website, that's the only way to apply for a job at either place. They have been hiring experienced and inexperienced miners for a couple of years.
