I will tell you that Clay operates an exceptionally well run ambulance service. He cares for the communities, patients, and employees as if they were actually his family. Just ask some of the towns they provide ambulance service for. I wish everyone would just leave him and the Mercy Family alone.
However when you provide a good service that makes the not so good services stand out, generally the underdog ambulance services try to create a story.

I am truly surprised at the continued lack of professionalism exhibited by "leaders" at Mercy in their "marketing" department.
Their Public Relations Officer and EMS Supervisor came to us and lied to us. Mr. Koch's idea of "Marketing" is to lie about other ambulance services. He "hangs around" and waits until the nurses are busy and then removes stickers or other resource materials from the nurses stations. It is truly amazing that after Mr. Koch leaves, the only ambulance telephone number readily available is one for Mercy Ambulance.
We have called "Mercy" ambulance. The crews sent reflect the unprofessionalism exhibited by Mr. Koch and "his kind".
Since Mercy "stormed" into Oklahoma, we have learned to keep our needed supplies, IV pumps and equipment out of reach, and to try to assign a nurse to watch them like hawks. We know how they equip their trucks with the "latest" equipment.
Stealing is stealing. IV pumps, cardiac monitors, stethoscopes, other ambulance service stickers note pads and pens. They have no morals, and are the most unethical bunch I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Create a story? What a joke. Mercy's big old EMS supervisor left a previous employer because he was asked to BE A MAN for once, and change a headlight. It was above and beyond for him. Not part of his job description. He wanted a supervisor to drive in and do it for him. He just wanted to sit on his fluffy butt and whine. Please do not ask "him" to work.

That's because Mercy has all of Central Med's REJECTS...Also, Mercy has to follow Central Med to the local hospitals for training purposes.

Mercy has finally run REMO out of business. It looks like Oklahoma has lost another ambulace service. They were starting to make things up just to make us look bad. They said REMO ran them off the road. I hope craig county realizes what they have done. When mercy finds out there is no money in craig county they will pack up and leave just like Med-Tech did, but this time no REMO to cover because mercy shut us down. God help all the citizens of craig county because mercy wont help at all.

First of all I want to say is that I have never or wanted or will work for Mercy Regional. Here is my input to this forum where you want it or not. I have been in ems for about 17 years and have worked for 8 different ambulance service in my years. Nobody spoke about the trouble Mercy Regional got into for not complying with there resource hospital and state guide lines. How about the time Clay got his paramedic license suspended! How about the time he got pulled over for driving reckless in his tahoe by the sheriff department because he flew there department at a high rate of speed in a 30 mph zone.

To Medic712 Why would think any of fire chiefs or the 911 director wold speak to you badly about Clay Hobbs? Also if you think they are so good why are you not working for them and they paid so much better? You work for Doc don’t you?

To Illinois Medic If I’m not wrong Effingham Advance was shut down by the state and the EMS system.

To Medic man 4 About the ambulance are they running correctly or do they have problems? My friend told me that instead of fixing the ambulances they was buying new cars for the car service. The problem I talking about is the ambulance had to be jump started so they had to leave it running all of the time. Also in my opinion most of Mercy regional employee’s work for Clay is because they could not get a job any where else! There is a paramedic that should not have a license because of what was done on a call, or should I say what was not done on a call, also that person was suspended at or about the same time Clay was suspended. He might treat a few very good but he treats a lot more like crap.

To Emsmed4 Then why is it that Mercy Regional will send all of there ambulances out on transfer’s and not leave one to cover franklin county? That is sure caring about the community and a ambulance had to come from another county for the call. Also for the most part people don’t have a clue about the ambulance service in franklin county. A lot of people think that Mercy Regional is a ambulance service that closed there doors in 1997.

I am not surprised that Clay was arrested on health care fraud (medicare) He has continued to commit medicare fraud in Oklahoma. He did not learn his lesson in Illinois, he just ran to another state. I wonder how long it will take Medicare to catch up to him in Oklahoma. Then all of those communities will be up a creek. The bills will go unpaid as he runs to yet another state. Perhaps the state should check into what he charges Medicare, and what he charges private citizens for the same service and all of the under the table cash business.
