People who don't need the LINK system really piss me off sometimes. I'm a single mom of 2 kids under the age of 5 who works a full time job and still gets help from link. No I didn't get knocked up and have these kids for the welfare money like you all would assume. I was married up until last year when my husband walked out on me for another woman. So when you're paying all of the bills, daycare and rent alone on a teachers salary, that extra $150 a month for food really makes a difference, especially when you have to buy formula at least once a week. God forbid that any of you are ever in a situation where you need help getting back on your feet.

If you can't afford the two kids you popped out then you shouldn't have had them. It shouldnt be the governments responsibility to take care of them it's yours work 80 hrs a week then

people like you disgust me. I pray for the day people like you need help getting back on your feet or whatever the situation may be and you get denied and left to struggle on your own. Walk a day in someone elses shoes and see what it is like. Know the facts behind someone's situation before you judge so easily. If my fiance and I didn't have link we would struggle after all of our bills are paid. We would put our child before ourselves as we always do but at the risk of being unable to put food in OUR mouths. We shop cheap we both work full time jobs and do NOT live in government housing. My daughter is a blessing and I wouldn't change a thing. The LINK program for us is a god-send.

Some people actually do need the help.even working and paying all the bills sometimes people just get so far behind they can't catch up and need a little help to buy food for there children, there is nothing wrong with that.people talk bad about people having link and what they are buying.does it really have anything to do with u mind your own bussiness.stop looking in peoples shopping carts.I don't notice what other people buy.some might take advantage of the system but its not all people.

You're a liar. You can't get cash on a LINK card. That's why they started the LINK program. I used to have to give change back to customers that used food stamps(up to 99 cents) and they would go through the line 5 times with one pack of Kool-Aid so they could get enough change to buy a pack of cigarettes. They could also sell the Food Stamp Coupons to anybody with two nickles. Now with a LINK card customers receive no change. A LINK card holder now can go to the store and buy items and sell them but selling the card would end their benefits. Please don't take my word for it, go to any business that accepts LINK cards and ask. There is a chance if you do, I will be the person behind the counter that you are asking.
your right they cant sell the cards but they sure as hell as can trade part or all of their food stamps for drugs...they dont I.D. you when you pay with link do they? nope! so how do you know its the persons thats using it in the 1st place?
I know their are ppl out there that use the link card the right way...but theres a lot more that dont and take advantage of it. we need a better system. Maybe treating them like drivers licenses and making ppl show I.D. when they use it just like you do whenever you pay with check or debit card. They do that so ppl cant take our check or debit and steal from us...but since we r paying for these frauds to have link isnt that stealing from us too?

Doesn't really matter if they id or not. The person with the card can still go in an pay for the stuff actually most do so they don't get caught and lose their link. I have had people offer to pay for my stuff with link and want cash when in return. I would never do that and want to actually take their card from them and turn them in. used to work in retail seen this a million times. they need to be stricter on what can be purchased using link first off.

If it wasn't for link card my family would not make it. I have been on it for almost 4 years now and its a Godsend. I am shocked that some people on here think link should not exist and it is sickening that they would rather let people starve and children starve because they are mad that they can't get a link card because they make too much money to get one. I work, I pay taxes, never been in trouble with the law , and I am a good citizen. I appreciate every penny I get on my link card and so do my children!!!!!!

Some people sell their link to get neccesities like diapers or shoes for their kids, not everyone on link is a drug user. Some people r just stuggling to make it thru life. And then they get idiots that call them drug users , and lowlifes on here. All of u people that have something against anyone with a link card should be disgusted with yourselves because that is sickening to say that link should not exist and low income/ no income families should starve. This is not a third world country we don't need to have people starving to death.

Maybe the names and amounts of all people who receive LINK should be made public just like the salaries of people who are paid by taxes (ie teachers, government officials, etc)

Ok. I know many people who have a LINK card. I have known a few who abuse the card, but for the most part the people I know need it desperately. Jobs are extremely hard to find right now. Some people just need a little help between jobs.

Im sure you wouldn't pass a drug test scumbag, keep moochin off the system... better to be part of the problem than the solution eh? Ill keep supporting your worthless ass. Id rather have my 2k a week than your 300 dollars worth of doritos and ice cream a month. You keep packin golfclubs for 60 year old dudes and blowing them on the green.

You say you work 40-50 hours weekly... and you still need assistance? Even at Illinois' minimum wage of $8.25/hr, a 40 hour workweek will gross a $330.00 paycheck, a 50 hour workweek will gross over $410.00 or if overtime is paid - close to $460.00 weekly. If you still need welfare assistance, you are apparently living far beyond your means. This is Southern Illinois, not LA or NYC.
It's time to cut back and learn to support yourself within your means without sucking the welfare tit.
I Also am a single mother and Work 40 hours a week and get a link card, you obviously don't know the price of daycare, gasoline, electricity, diapers, wipes, clothing for a growing child not to mention the cost of rent not all people getting link just sit on their Ass granted some people abuse the system others actually do Work, pay taxes and receive link

Where is the sperm donor to your child, shouldn't you be getting some type of child support. Second question did you think about having a child, when you were having such difficulty in your finances. You sometimes have to take responsibility for the decisions that you have made, maybe a little better planning and/or thinking was needed on your part.

My issue with this is that the father only gives you 200 a month, that's his child as much as yours so like myself and many other fathers out there I would expect him to bare the burden of support not the government. I for one have worked up to three jobs at a time to help provide for my family. Believe me I do not want to see any harm come to your child, but when did it become the tax payers burden to support your family because either you made a decision to divorce or not even marry the father, seems to me like we should make him pay like all other fathers who have children do.
