HMMMM....
If Whirlpool would screw their former emplyees, of their medical benefits, that pretty much answerrs any doubts about Whirlpools concern for the average working class person, and their products. Yes?

http://www.topix.net/com/whr/2008/07/whirlpoo...

Plus their sales are hurting seriously, which may reflect into the quality of there products:

http://www.topix.net/com/whr/2008/07/whirlpoo...

Just what brand of appliances, are holding up AFTER LONG TERM USE?
ANYTHING?
Does anyone know of a dependable washer and dryer?

MAYTAG NEVER CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE DISHWASHER BEING RECALLED - I CALLED TO GET A REPAIR ON THE DISHWASHER AND WAS INFORMED MY MODEL WAS ON RECALL MORE THAN A YEAR AGO!
NOW - MAYTAGE REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY TYPE OF REBATE OR REPLACEMENT FOR THE DISHWASHER. NEEDLESS TO SAY - I WILL NEVER, EVER OWN ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT. I REPLACED THE PIECE OF TRASH WITH A BOSCH DISHWASHER.
I WOULD BE VERY MUCH INTERESTED IN JOINING IN ON A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE COMPANY. PRODUCTS ARE STILL BEING MADE WITH THE MAYTAG NAME ON IT. I PLAN TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT MAYTAG WHEN I SEE OTHERS IN THE STORES THAT ARE LOOKING AT THE PRODUCT.

1. 2.3 million diswasher are being recalled; How long did Maytag know -
2. Maytag told me they will only replace the rinse dispenser, wiring, and door liner. All other damaged parts will NOT be replaced otherwise they would face bankrupcy (direct quote).
3. We are being offered $75 no matter how old the washer is or how much we paid for it.
I say a class action is in order.
I AGREE!

It is noteworthy to mention that Whirlpool did not own Maytag when these models were manufactured. I suppose I'd be misplacing blame if I held Whirlpool responsible.

The only problem we've ever noted with our model (which is the portable model included in the recall) is that the cleaning tabs fail to dissolve every now and again. We used to use Jet Dry, which is apparently where the problem is. They pleaded with my husband to stop using it immediately and keep it unplugged.

I wish he'd taken the discount off a replacement (we have a partner program through work) versus accepting parts and repair. By the way, they told him they were going to "replace a switch" and nothing about sealing off the rinse aid dispenser, which is a HUGE SELLING FEATURE when you buy a DW. I am in no position to replace it, but have every intention of buying American whatever I buy. Where is Bosch made? Google Bosch and you'll find horror stories there too ... no brand is exempt from problems. It's how they handle it that gets them in a bind.

Wow! Early in 2008 when I happened upon the recall info for my Maytag DW, I called, received a quick response to my inquiry via phone call from Whirlpool, and had an authorized repair company from my area of central NY here with a new replacement dishwasher within 3 weeks. It was installed without a hitch and ran like a quiet Series 400 that it's advertised as... We did not take the upgrade and pay the difference. Now, the new one is grinding and making very strange noises like arching inside the works!! I am on this site looking for any possible recall on the replacement!!! Buy American? Hmmmmmm.... I don't think so!

I also have a Maytag Quiet Series 400. I have been using it since Aug. 07. I have had similar problems with the grinding/arcing noise. The first time I had the problem was about a month after the warranty expired.

I replaced the Wash Motor Assy, and the problem went away. My wife convinced me to call Maytag about the problem, and they reimbursed me for the motor, even though my warranty was expired.

The problem has recently started coming back. We called Maytag to find out if there were any recalls on the motor, and they could (would) not give us any information. They kept bringing up the fact that we had voided our warranty by performing our own service on the dishwasher, even though the warranty has already expired.

I am convinced that the motor has a reliability issue. There are no recalls for this problem on Maytag's website. Maybe there haven't been enough customer complaints to start a recall???

I did not get the recall notice, instead found it on my own two days ago. Are things better now, than they were. I have read on some blogs that people were given new replacement dishwashers - how did those people go about it.
Advice thanks,

I also support class action for the negligent management of a life-threatening recall.

I was taken aback by the follow up letter received regarding the dishwasher recall status in my home, dated Dec 10, 2008.

After making complaints for a year and a half because this recall has been managed negligently; of course my dishwasher has not been repaired. But I can see that the complaints about the recall are just as efficient as the recall itself.

When I made my complaints more public on the internet forum, they were just lost among the hundreds of others that had the same experience with the recall.

For curiosity I found that GE (who has the same recall) had only two complaints about getting the recall completed.

A class action would make better headway using the red tape of the courts than with that of Whirlpool.

There's a 1 800 number to call and Maytag sets up everything. I guess your a rock head and don't have a DW that needs to be recalled or you can't follow simple instructions. What, are you a former employee??

I have the Stainless Steel version of the recall dishwasher and it was arching and smoldering as harness was shorting out and burning. I contacted Maytag and they said it wasn't covered and only offered to sell me parts. Did my own wiring repair and feel a lot more confident about it after reading other posts. Maytag is playing it smart because they are history anyway especially with economy in the toilet. Too much bad service and publicity for anybody to be repeat customer.

My fridge went Kaput
It turned out to be the part that was called in for the recal. They did repair the part but refused to offer a cheque for the food lost.

The problem is it is [part of a biugger problem as one these fridges were being recalled because of a defect that causes fires.

That is quiet a serious matter and maytag /Whirlppol is not doing enough to warn people .
They literally have a item in your house that can cause a fire. Fridge fires are not that uncommon.
They should be on the news more to warn people of the danger .
I would like to twitter this warning as I feel it is a safety matter but I dont know how to use twiter Anyone know how

This has been on the news, newspapers, and many online websites. You just missed them I guess. They are recalling 1.6 million units. There have only been 41 actual cases where fire or an electrical problem occurred. I don't think that is a serious problem if that little have occurred but at least Maytag is doing something about it, most companys probably wouldn't until that number of cases grew higher than 41.

A lawyer named Bradley Leger in Houston, Texas represents individuals in fire cases nationwide, including cases involving Ford cruise control switch recalls and Maytag refrigerator recalls. He is an excellent trial lawyer that went above and beyond for me in my case. He is a senior partner at the law firm of Leger Adkins, LLP. Check out his profile at www.legeradkins.com . You can also email him at bleger@legeradkins.com.

If you live in Orange County, make sure that you don’t use AE Factory Service for your Maytag Refrigerator recall. Insist on another company . They switched wires on rely when replaced. When they came out second time to determine that compressor failed because of this, I was told by tech that they were training their tv and vcr repair guys to replace frig relay (and if you ask Maytag now they know of this and are still contracted with AandE). Came out a third time to replace compressor. Never plugged in fan to coils. Just realized this when noticed that wall between doors of frig was hot.I'm lucky that my compressor is still working! Damaged bottom cover to refrigerator and wouldn’t replace. Called and asked to speak to escalation dept to get reinbursed for food loss, agent said there was none. Found out later there was! And now they say it is too late to make a claim. Maytag was no better. Would only replace $100 of food loss.

What a waste of oxygen. You see example after example of problems with Maytag products and all you can do is tell people to grow up? Other companies are selling similar crap so quit beating up Maytag? Idiot Maytag shill.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
