Dear Editor.
It has been very disturbing for me as a black man to talk openly about the lack of action of the once preeminent civil rights organizations in America.
After watching the horrific beating and berating of a 20 year old young black man in Atlanta recently..I was appalled to find out that the NAACP..Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton..haven't said a word about this incident or come out in the victim's defense. Was it because it was a group of savage black thugs that assaulted this person..making it black on black crime??...or was it because the victim was gay??
Neither should matter..This country's black leadership is lacking. They ignore problems like this everyday but embrace pants-sagging, crotch-grabbing, disrespectful and ignorant rappers and athletes. The only time you hear from these leaders is if there is a white person doing something to a black person.
I've lived in Benton Harbor most of my life...if I go to the store or an ATM..I'm not looking out for white people...I'm looking for black males that don't give a damn about me except for what's in my wallet.
This young man simply went to the store and was beaten by thugs because he was gay...and that's senseless, ignorant, unacceptable..and IGNORED by the organization founded on preventing discrimination and violence to black people. This is a shame on so many levels it's tragic.
I will never give another dime to the Naacp or ANY organization fronted by Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton..they all have truly lost touch

Your description of the problems is "common sense" becoming rare. Thank you for reasonable logic.
