Nice day, even some sun. Snow is melting fast. We're five miles from the center of Charlottesville and still without power. Every press release from Dominion is another round of self-congratulation and company PR blather. The line crews are certainly giving it their all, but Dominion management wants us to believe they can do no better than this ill-executed response to a simple snowstorm. But what do they really care? It's great to be a monopoly.

In a state that is prone to hurricanes and ice storms it doesn't take much brains to figure out that lines should all be underground. and of course Washington got their power on first.

Power companies have investors that would cringe at putting up the money to improve the infrastructure, underground service. They want their dividends.

We STILL have no power on Wolf Trap Road because of a HUGE pine tree laying completely across the road and resting on a power line. VDOT will not touch it, since it is resting on the line. The only way to get through is by squeezing under the tree. No way that an ambulance or fire truck could get through. The house(s) would just have to burn to the ground. Were told by Dominion that the power was restored Wednesday night, but it was not. I'm sure we moved to the bottom of the queue once they told us it was restored. Out since 6 AM Wednesday, and less than 5 miles from city limits. Have seen multiple crews on Route 20 North, but they apparently keep passing us by in favor of more important customers.

I myself love poker, love to count cards, it works quite well.

Good deal and i agree about the state lottery. I could only shake my head at lady luck commercials saying today could be your lucky day. Thats the message to send low level impulsive gamblers
