Hopefully, This goofball Santiago spends a miserable life in prison. He is a typical Latin King sissy. killing young girls. Many condolences to the people who lost a love one.

"aggravated battery"
$500,000 bond

That's the best the attorneys could do initially? Oh, come on, court system: that guys meant to kill them all, and everyone knows it. What a weak system we have. If there's been any case that calls for the clear use of a death penalty, this is it.

Not to say that bad things can't happen anywhere, but these people in this city are so out of control, I know eventually I will move away. What a sad story. A young girl dies because some fool mistakes a car. What an idiot. Chicago is such a beautiful city and yet all these loosers and good for nothings make it look so ugly. What a bad rap they give us. Heaven help us all. My sympathy to this young lady's family, and may all the others recover from their injuries.

No one gets lost, but you can make a wrong turn and find yourself in unfamiliar areas. By the way, check your typing before you start making idiotic statements.

I keep saying it, again and again. We as a society have got to get rid of gangs and gang member simply being a member should be a crime. They should be treated like convicted child molesters once they are validated gang members. Restrictions as to where they can live, registration and so on.
Class action law suit against all criminal gangs, gang members become responsible for the dollars they cost us and can expect to forever have all property they have taken by courts. Might end motivaion to join if the court removes the bling, and cars and money these guys have.

This is a tragedy, so I won't exploit it too much.

I'm not going to comment on the fact that everyone in the car had most likely been drinking for a while.

I'm not going to comment on the wisdom of pulling a black SUV packed with young people into one of the city's most dangerous neighborhoods at 4 a.m.

But I will say this as a general taunt, non-specific to the unfortunate victims:

"I drive an SUV because the roads are unsafe."

I'm sorry, my heart goes out to the victims and their families, and whatever the perp gets is too good for him.

Get your facts straight, before you post anything! These kids were not drinking.

Oh, and one more thing:

I'll never be able to prove it, but I KNOW it's the same people out there who support "Stand Your Ground" laws and the use of deadly force to protect a pocket-full of jewelry who are calling for a bloody end to Mr. Santiago for (so the story goes) attacking a car he mistook for the one shooting at him earlier and trying to kill him.

I think all cases of vigilantism are wrong, Santiago's and Stand Your Ground, and the people who take a more "nuanced" position are hypocrites.

RIP.

Cut off gang revenue (from drugs and prostitution) and reclassify gangs as terrorist organizations. Capture all the 'terrorists' and put them to work cleaning up garbage, cutting grass, or helping the homeless. Spend taxes (from drugs and prostitution) on educating people growing up in these neighborhoods.

Yes, it is possible to get lost at night in the city...the fact that they were from the western suburbs means nothing. The west suburbs are not the same as the west side. In fact, if anything the fact that they were from the burbs means they would be less likely to be good with directions in the city. It is incredibly easy to get turned around at night in Chicago if you are unfamiliar with the area. And who knows, maybe they made one wrong turn and had only been lost for a few minutes. That may have been all it took for them to come across this psycho.

As to your second question, they were in that part of town because...wait for it...THEY WERE LOST.

What is wrong with people like you? Everything is a conspiracy, and bad things only happen to bad people in your world view.

Well gang bangers have taken to using mini-vans for their drive bys now. I guess it's time to outlaw mini-van ownership in the City of Chicago.

Exactly what is the point of your "holier than thou" statements??? The SUV comments are killing me - so would it have made a difference if these kids took a wrong turn in a bad neighborhood while driving a station wagon????? What if his little gang bu_tt buddy was shot by someone in a station wagon??? As far as your drinking comment - who knows if they were drinking or not - it really doesn't make a difference??? According to the story - the driver wasn't drinking. I am sure you never hung out until all hours of the night with your friends (if you had any) when you were in your early 20's. The d-bag coward gangbanger was driving a minivan for god's sake (LOL)- so I really don't see what the SUV has anything to do with it.

If they were clubbing as the article says, I promise you that they were drinking. Perhaps the article is inaccurate?

Regardless, it's inconsequential and has no bearing on what happened to them. It also doesn't mean they were necessarily drunk. They were victims of a nutcase and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, plain and simple.

Some people will always find a way to blame the victim. Ignore those people.

When will CPD do their jobs.. Gang violence is up and CPD sits on there butts. I agree if you are in a gang you are a terrorist. plan and simple.

Definition of Terroism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Sounds like gangs...
