Does anyone else remember it. Standish Hansell had it dug and put the concrete dinosaurs on the island. There was a concrete snake wrapped around a tree too.

I, unfortunately, have never been there. But, I have come across information on it at: http://www.amusementparknostalgia.com/index.h...
If you click on "Forgotten Places" and then scroll down, there is some information on it. I found this site a few years ago.

I remember it, you could walk around the whole lake from the path. The one side did have a dock, well what was left of it anyway. and There was a creater cut out just to the left of that dock.

I remember this lake well. It was behind Liberty Bell Racetrack, now the Franklin Mills Mall. It was rumored that the reason the lake was drained, is that someone found a woman's head at the bottom of the lake. They never identified the head, and many stories swirled around the possibility of there being a link to the horrors of Byberry State Mental Hospital. Of course these were childhood stories, but I believe the head in the lake was fact. I lived in Doral Apts at the time, this was back in the early 70's...

Yes I remember it. What happened to it. We use to cut throught the road between the farmer fields off of Humleville rd to get to it. Dang that was a long time ago. It's true you can't go home. We use to ride Jerry Casey ponies back in there. that was in the late 60's.

Hey John I remember it the same way. We would follow the poquessing creek up to the lake. Right there on the border of Philly and Bensalem. I can remenber swimming over to the islands when there was water in there but then they did drain it supposedly looking for a head or body parts. We then were hering rumors of devil worshipping going on back there at the lake and that's when we stopped going back there. If you stand back behind the old movie theatre at franklin mills you can still see the lake through the trees.

I remember fishing off that dock. Probably was in the late 60's

I also remember the stories about heads and dismembered bodies. I believed them then. Not sure if they were true or not.

The head and body rumors were just that. They drained the lake and found nothing. The owner of the property was sorta of happy they did because of all the trouble down there. I'm looking at a picture from 1954 when they were just finshing building it and it has a little water but no dino's yet.

I want to get some of the other pics I have and try posting them all. Also a ton of pics of the Barn before they needlessly tore it down.

I'm totally thrilled I found this site. I grew up in Parkwood and we used to treck through the woods , jump the back fence of liberty park to get to the lake. The first time I saw the lake and the dinosaurs, I thought it was so bizarre. Was telling my kids about it and they wanted to see pictures, so I googled it and found the link above and was so excited to see pics of the lake! Such a long time ago! But great times there. And yeah, remember all the stories of why they drained it. So glad other people remember it too.

Daniela,
I grew up in Parkwood myself. Are you related to David Dimarco from Byberry Road near DunksFerry? His family operated a lunch truck business and I remember swimming in David's pool, one of the only in-ground pools in Parkwood. I also remember he had an older sister, would that be you?

I too remember that we were told as kids not to go back there! We would ride ponies/horses from Mr Gotez farm thru the woods but never remember seeing the Dinosaurs. Brings back fun memories of my childhood back there... I am 47 now
