Who "shoots" a turtle? What the hell is wrong with people? It's a tragedy that someone would die that way...I mean, no one wants to be the person who dies from trying to kill a turtle.

He was a cop? Heck I'm a woman of about 98 lbs, and I'd pick the turtle up and move him.

Then again....

We need a better screening process for cops.

On Mothers' Day in 1974. Our family were headed to Eufaula, Al. to camp.
A snapping turdle was crossing the road, and I decided to shoot it. After taking my pistol from it's holster I had a change of heart. I was trying to put the gun in my right front pocket when all of a sudden I heard a bang, and sure as hell I had shot my left leg.
Today I am still paying the price for that mistake.

Let me tell you PAM! If you are all of 98lbs then let me tell you something this turtle was heavier than you! try about 150lbs! It took my brother and brother in-law 2 1/2 hours just to catch it with a net and then another hour to get it out of the water! So before you type why don't you think to look up on the internet how big SNAPPING TURTLES can get!

The officer's name was Kevin Lawler. He was one of the kindest, friendliest and fair police officers that Bensalem Twp ever had. He was a good man and it was a real tragedy that he passed so young.

serves him right for shooting animals instead of criminals! guess he thought he was "above the law" and didn't need to call the game and wildlife commission for such matters.

Does it serve him right??? REALLY!!!!!!! if you knew the whole story then you wouldn't think the way you do, it did not actually happen that way! My father was RETIRED that is what the article says!! He was the most AMAZING person you would ever meet, he would give you the shirt off of his back! It's sad to say that you have never met anyone like that and you never will so that's your loss! But before you go an judge someone for how an article is written MAKE sure that you think before you type because there are children and grandchildren, brother's, sister's and HIS mother who can read this! It has been the worst year and half on my family and for you to add fuel to the fire does not make it any easier on us! WE are the one's who are grieving still and always will! GUESS what at least you will be able tp walk your daughter down the isle and have your father daughter dance! I WILL NEVER HAVE THAT! So PLEASE before you judge people there are his 2 daughter's and grandaughter who are missing him every day!

Kevin was a real gentleman who cared about every person he met. He served the community well and was the first to help an injured aminal, he being a K-9 officer for so many years. He was also a real fun loving guy early in his career, he suferred a heart attack just befoer retirement and I think that set him back. Rest in Peace Kevin, Victoria, he has a lot of friends out there, don't take offense against some of these people, on the internet it is so impersonal and people sometimes say thoughtless things.

Why would you purpously catch a snapping turtle and shoot it? Isn't that illeagal? I could see if it was a Teenage Mutant Nija Turtle, but seriously, thats what you get!

You people who think so nonchalantly that this person deserved their fate are sicko's. I mean truly sick. Your views on life prioritize an animal over a human, someones family?! That is sick and weird. I guarantee if you were face to face with the family of this man that you would not act in such a heartless way.
Remember, bottom line, you DON'T know what happened. You don't know the full story. However you'd rather think the worst of this unfortunate person to glorify your own stupid opinions or make dumb jokes than to sympathize with a human being and their family. Take your heads outta "you know where" and show some respect! I'm honestly disgusted by these comments. I can only imagine they were written by people who have not experienced losing a loved one.
My respect and sympathy goes out to the Man's Family and Friends.

Since this happened in Bensalem and there is so much corruption there,
if it were me I would have someone outside the Bensalem Police Department
to investigate this death. It sounds to me like someone might have killed
him, and made it look like an accident. I would not trust some of those
Bensalem Police. I am sure they have some honest ones, but they also
have a lot of corruption within the police department. I believe that the people
of Bensalem and Bucks County are about to --soon---get there eyes opened
and their ears, full--concerning the corruption.

Concerned, get your facts straight before you make accusations. He died at his residence which is located miles from Bensalem in a different jurisdiction. Therefore, his death was investigated by another police agency. As far as your allegation of so much corruption in Bensalem, again your wrong. What facts do you have to justify this libelous statement? Excuse me if I don't hold my breath awaiting your baseless prediction regarding the impending corruption newsflash.

Victoria, I'm SO sorry to hear about your dad. My dad's a cop too. These baffoons on here have no idea what they're talking about. Does anyone stop to think that maybe they don't have the whole story? EVERYONE knows that the media spins things the way they want to. Don't take it personally to your family - those comments are coming from morons. I'm sure your dad was an amazing person and my heart goes out to you for your loss. xxxx
