A good question to me would be where did this child get the TB from? What was the source. In this day and age I have no doubt that this can be cured. More parents should be made aware of all the diseases out there that have been dormant for a while that could possibly resurface.

Why should we rely on other people to tell us what diseases are out there? In this day and age of information availability you can easily go out and get it. That's the problem with this damn country, everyone expects someone else to deal with their problems for them. For example, now the government wants to bail out homeowners who made a poor choice with their mortgages. This way of thinking is absurd and needs to change. If it doesn't then this country is doomed!!!

Do you only get sick once a year at check-up time? Try going online and learn more about the subject before you (try 2 speak)

If people got their shots this wouldn't be an issue. There is a reason why kids are immunized. It only takes un-immunized person to bring back disease. This is just the beginning so brace yourselves...

Seriously, get a clue. And did you ever notice when kids are sick, MOST docs play it off as "viral" and say "let it work through it's course"... and next thing you know, it wasn't just viral, but a diagnosis 10x's worse. Docs don't make moves on typically healthy kids until symptoms are more apparent.

Has he been on any school/church trips to Lousiana? Several college students have returned infected so I was told.

TB is more common than all of you realize. Doctors do not automatically test for it at every check up. Some employers check it periodically if the employee works in a field where they are more likely to be exposed (i.e. police officers). Although it can be cured, it takes months of antibiotics to ensure that it is out of the patients system. The United States does not commonly immunize for TB (BGG). Countries where there is a high risk immunize against this disease.
I think we all need to be careful when making assumptions about what is and is not the norm without first doing our homework.

That's my bad...I must have gotten TB vaccination confused with something else. The TB vaccine is only given to people who are at risk because they live with someone with the active disease or cannot take antibiotics to treat the infection. Pediatricians seem to give most vaccinations now a days.
