Go back a few generations and many of us have ancesters who faced adversity. the whole reason that the Puritans and Quakers pulled out of Europe was the presecution that they were facing. You are correct in your comments about folks who do not learn from history. There are whole neighborhoods in Philly where I see no alternative to just writting off whole generations of people. What chance does a kid in north Philly have of escaping from the "hood"? Parents do not instill a work ethic or the quest to learn. Compounding the problem, is a lack of nearly any jobs, let alone legal, well paying jobs.

Where were all the white people? Really Larneice, you need to jump off that "victim" bandwagon and get a life. Constantly referring to slavery doesn't buy sympathy for the shortcomings of your race. It just makes you appear dumber and a little less civilized.
