Common sense trumps force

Has anyone thought about the property owner and their rights?

Id like to see how long the Hypocrites at the reformer would have been patient if protesters were blocking the entrance to their offices.
Failure to obey the lawful commands of a Law enforcement officer is resisting arrest..i think they got off easy. |

How pathetic! More tax dollars at work to defend officers doing their job. These "protesters" were asked to leave, and refused a direct, lawful order by an officer of the law. What would you have them do? Use a physical means of gaining compliance?(Let me assure you, you don't want that!) or just let them trample all over the landowners rights? These officers used the least amount of force necessary to gain compliance to a lawful request. Let's not forget. If they had simply respected the land owners wishes in the first place, all of this would have been avoided. Stop waisting money, time, and effort giving this pathetic group more attention!

Zapping someone with 50,000 volts is not a physical means of gaining compliance? I think this is a case of bored small-town cops wanting to use their toys, and the taxpayers get to foot the bill. |

Regardless of the output, Tasers are considerd a safe alternative to physical restraint, both for the offender and for the officer involved. As others have said, these were law-breaking trespassers who made the choice to be removed by whatever means the officers felt necessary by the fact that they chose to REFUSE to leave a place they had NO legal right to be. Next time someone trespasses on your property, would you like us all to stand by, offer them tea and cookies and talk for about a week about why we really think it would be best if they leave?? |

Naked and tasered, sounds like one of Brattleboro's leading citizens used their welfare check for airfare to Florida. |

What will your teacher do if she finds out you're sending crank messages during 2nd grade lunch recess instead of beating up little kids for their lunch money? |

Hopefully keep me after school and give me a good spanking. |

Could you imagine trying to do your job as a cop in "The People's Republic of Brattleboro"? Give those officers a raise.

And AR-15's in each patrol car and more German Shepherds.

I think about it all the time.

That'd be funny if these cops tased Bush if he showed up in Brattleboro! I smell an SNL skit!

Why would President Bush waste his time visiting Brattleboro? Does anyone still watch SNL, if so why? |

I agree SNL blows, but we know he won't show up in Vermont, there are no military bases, the population is largely liberal, and he has a warrant out for his arrest in Brattleboro. He's visited every state but VT in his 8 year performance. I guess that trend will most likely continue. I can see it now, Andy Sandberg does a skit of famous people he's tased while eating, and Bush is getting some maple syrup on his pancakes and ZAP! He looks like the bride of Frankenstein! |

Actually, based on historical election result percentages. Oregon is the most liberal state in America. And there are single counties in NY, CA, MA and others that are more liberal than Vermont and have a higher population in those single counties.
Certainly Vermont is pretty liberal, but VT has always had a bit of a curmudgeonly thing going on and historically has always been more independent than easily put into one group or another. For example they elected a Republican Governor this last term. Though clearly its easier on the TV Lobotomized brain to see everything in black and white. "hippie bleeding heart liberal" or "cold racist right wing nutjob" -- thats simplistic thinking. The truth is really bouncing around in the middle. Vermont has a history of not being easily classifiable as "right" or "left" but more "screw everybody else we do our own thing!" Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Vermo... |
