You are right, we do have the oil here to handle our needs. But the answer is not more oil, ours or theirs. Because you know as well I do that all that oil we have here will not all be used here, some will, but not all of it. It would be put on the open market where they would make the most money. So saying that taping into the oil here will get us off foreign oil is just a little misleading. The only way to get off foreign oil is to get off all together or at least as much as we can.
Yep the traitor politicans have sold America out while they got their pockets filled.

And they wonder why they are getting voted out.

No matter what any of you who love the oil and would hate to see it go say will ever convince me that more oil is the answer. Will we ever be 100% free of oil, I doubt it. But we can and must drastically cut our use of oil.

By law, all the oil from the North Slope of Alaska must be sold in the US. For a short time it was sold to Japan, but that was stopped. All the oil from Alaska that goes through the Alaska Pipeline must stay here in the USA.
But then the rocket scientists in Washington decided to place an "excess profits tax" on DOMESTIC oil production. So naturally the evil oil companies went overseas to buy the oil.
An excess profits tax? Explain a little more Jeff please! Our government taxes the American oil companies because they make TOO much money? What ever happened to capitalism and free enterprise? I'm just a little guy but it sounds like the same type of thing that the Democrats are trying to push through Congress - ie: the rich should pay more tax just because they have more money. No matter how you look at it, it's double taxing. We fought a war to free ourselves from England over a tea tax, now we're taxing excess profits? Who decides what is excess?

Borrowing money from China to give it to Egypt makes NO sence whatsoever.

Time the feds learn it'a not their money, it's not our money, it's China's money. But the American taxpayer will be held responsible to pay it back.

Let Egypt go to China and borrow their own money, that way Egypt will be responsible to pay it back to China.

I would say yes yes yes. Think of it this way a Ultra/Liberal/Democrat has a lot to gain from $15 a gallon. First people would drive less which will be good for the enviroment. Second need to have more Goverment programs to help people. This would also give them good election sound bites. For example "We feel your pain" Need Dem's to keep welfare goiing "Evil Bush oil companys" Need Dem's to tax oil co's

Oh....so now it's the wind/solar/biofuel solution. Not cost effective, not happening anytime soon.
