This was reported to Paula Woodard six months ago what was going on in Larimer County and with this Judge. She was given names and contacts to support it and she chose to not follow up after showing some interest. Now it’s news? Way to go nine news! You really showed support for these women.

Sadly, according to the American College of Judges, 70% of abusive men who ask for custody get it. The family courts in our country are a mess- they protect abusers, and punish victims, mostly moms and children. This doesn't surprise me at all. Additionally, most ethical counselors will NOT participate in any type of counseling that requires a victim to negotiate with or capitulate to her abuser.

Just another example of a judge that should be removed from the bench. I spent ten years being terrorized by my husband. The police were totally useless, providing to me only sarcasm and no protection. My heart breaks for these women. I couldn't imagine being forced, by a court, to interact with a man who tried to kill me. It is absolutely not in the best interests of the child to have one of their parents pushed back into an abusive and dangerous situation. If we removed the protection of qualified immunity from all memebers of the justice system and forced them to be liable and accountable for the grave harm they inflict on people, we would all be better off.

This is the most stupid ruling I have ever heard. Who in the heck does this Judge, I use the term loosely, think he is? I think forcing a woman, who has been abused, to have any contact with the abuser, phone#, address etc, is asking for bigger trouble. The next time a man is shot or beaten,by one or more people, the male victim has to meet with the violent people and give them all his personal information. God knows we do not want the abusers, getting lost and wasting precious time finding their VICTIMS !!!!!!

Fort Collins is the most messed up town in Colrado, people in Denver think Boulder is bad you should move up north to that all white comunity. I am mad at my race(white people) for the way they act when they get to many of us toghether.I lived their for 7 years and in the end I went to prison on my first felony that in any other town I would have got a half way house or some thing else.When I was in prison I meet so many people in from Fort Collins on some stupid charges doing a lot of time.This is the stupid thing white people come up with. I now live in Denver in a mixed area and love diversity.You read a lot about DEnver cops but in 10 years living hear I have never had any charges, so their not that bad.

This is not something that oyu go into knowing. It is a gradual process. Then when you are in the middle of it you see no way out. You have no control, no money, no means of survival & most of all no self esteem. Then when you do get out you are threatened with losing your children, rataliation & more abuse. You turn to the police & the courts for help because that is what they are supposed to do is help & protect. Then instead they tell you it never happened & give these men more power than they had before. They paint you out to be the hysterical vindictive ex wife.

From what I've read about Jostad, he's a religious kook on top of being an incompetent magistrate. He probably feels there's a religious precedent for this, that women (who are treated as second-class citizens by most religions) should kowtow even to abusive men.

Ah, how terrible of those folks in Fort Collins to imprison you for commiting felony! So the Denver cops are better because they haven't caught you yet? Have you NO sense of personal responsibility?
