Should i tip the carhops at Sonic?

Yes! Please tip the carhops! I worked as a carhop my Senior year of high school. I only got paid $4.65 an hour in Arizona. The money was shitty but I was 17 at the time and really needed the money to save up for prom. Once prom was over, I was out of there. People would rarely tip me which wasn't even worth the gas I spent on the 15 minute drive to get to Sonic. If you haven't noticed yet, all the carhops are high school students trying to make money so please tip them.

ALL carhop made $4.65 an hour regardless if they skated or not. And I was never paid the difference if I made less than minimum wage. It was such a crappy job. At least tip them a dollar.

At sonic? Sure, but only if they are playing 50's and 60's music and the ladies are on roller skates! Hey, this is the theme that Sonic was built around.

Almost forgot. When I pull into a Sonic and they are playing 50's and 60's music and the lady brings my foot on roller skates, I always give a bigger tip! Because I appreciate it!

I'd tip them for some extras. Like a nice bj. Other than that they are just doing their job. Nothing special or extra

What percentage of your customers gave you a tip at all?

yes you should tip them, they make $2.xx an hour only,

this is not the server's fault - this is the company's fault, if you do want to complain (i recommend it) complain to sonic corporation it is their fault not the worker's and not even the local manager's - he's just an employee of this company and doesn't decide this and can't change it.

if you go through the drivethrough and have to wait on your food - that's not the worker's fault, this is longer preparation time than mcdonalds and other factory-line-preprocessed food items,
so you should tip at least a little bit even in this situation.

you don't have to do anything, neither does God have to do anything for you either. everything you do, every manner in which you treat others, is spiritual whether you care to acknowledge it or not.

if the tip makes the entire meal too high that's fine, then don't go there.
if the tip situation makes you mad, place your anger where it belongs - sonic corp not the worker or even the local mgr.

i don't work there, i have friends who do, but more importantly - i'm a Christian and not just words, by actions. you do what you want, i've given you information and advice.

i work at sonic and came across this feed. carhops make 3.13 an hour, of course it does vary from state to state. skating carhops make 4 an hour, they are required to claim 100% of tips, not 10% and are taxed on every cent they make while carhopping. the reason behind it is when the old drive ins first opened, the carhops made waitress pay. that has not changed however, it has been raised slightly and are now following in accordance with the federal tax laws. some days, a carhop can make 10 bucks, others they might make 100 bucks, but it all depends on tipping. and saying keep the change when all is owed to you is 3 cents does not constitute as a tip.

Hello no to tipping them texting teenagers! You don't tip mcdonalds do you? All they done was bring the food to you. They didn't cook it or most of the time another texting fool took your order. So hell no to tipping!

No tips. I don't tip the drive through person who asks if I want condiments. Even if you tip, they don't check on you nor can you get refills. The brats can go in and complain about no tips all they want, like the fry and burger cook care at all.

Girls inside make minimum wage and rarely get raises unless promoted in some way. Carhops make server pay and girl employees at our sonic have two different clock ins so they can do both positions throughout the week. When carhopping and busting your butt to bring out orders to everyone is exhausting and they do not sit for 8 or more hours. I wore a pedometer on a 6 am to 3pm shift and walked almost 9 miles. Just saying, at $2 an hour that's hard work. Customers need to tip. On a side note, please don't pay in change because they can't turn that in. I've left with barely any cash and rt 44 cups of change that I now have to go home and roll change for another 2 hours just to feel like I made some money on my long shifts.

No I would not tip. Why would I tip someone that brought me a bag of fast food? They are not waiters they dont come and check on you they dont bring you refills if so I would tip them like I do when I go to a really restaurant. If you want to make good tip money then work some where, where you deserve it. You dont hear McDs BK DQ KFC exc employees complaining about not making tips those ppl work hard 2, would you tip them? No you wouldnt.

I didn't say you tip everyone. But it is etiquette to tip those in a waitress/server position. They only get paid $2.35 per hour and depend on the tips to reach min wage.
They do not wait on you whatsoever.. They bring you the food and do not return to see if you need a refill or if there is anything else you need. I do tip but the thought of them waiting on customers is not true in my opinion

Of course you should tip carhops,
Most of them get paid around 3.00$ an hour, and it's incredibly stressful. They are crammed in the small building rushing to get your food. But of course you should only tip if you feel they deserve it, by smiling and making you feel welcome.

They get 8$ an hour if they skate. Where you got the 2 something I have no lue; typically they have a huge sign up that clearly says "hiring carhops- 8$ an hour".

What sonic are you talking about? Let me go apply there, I wished it was $8 an hour.
