Because Terri Jentz refuses to identify the suspect in her book and the sob is still running loose like a psycho rabid dog?

I live right in this area, and would like to know his name. I do know several names in the book but, am looking for the suspects name, for no other reason other than my own piece of mind.

I believe CNN disclosed his name as Dick Damm. My biggest interest in this case is to wonder if there is any way to stop the ongoing violence against weomen and children. Why does our society continue to expect the best of people who have already shown a predisposition to harm the most vulnerable in our society? Why would these people ever be freed to harm again?

It really pisses me off that the spineless ass is running free who knows what other crimes he's committed because law enforcement failed! THEY dropped the ball bigtime!!!

Furthermore, though particularities of a non-working relationship were discussed between OSP and Sheriff's office in '77 , those reports don't explain the gross negligence..this crime has all the classic signs of some sort of cover up, so much so that I'd love to find Dick Damm and..

Found this in a UK paper...the Independent

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/ameri...

Duran is just a couple of years younger than Jentz but in far rougher shape - he recently lost all his teeth. When Jentz was first interviewed about her book on CNN a couple of months ago, Duran was in the county jail awaiting trial on yet another assault charge - this time against a terminally ill man he first befriended, then attacked. As the broadcast went out, he became so wild his cellmates feared for their safety.

Last month, Jentz arrived in the tiny town of Sisters for a book reading just as Duran was being released.(His victim, who would also have been the star witness for the prosecution, had died, and the district attorney let the matter drop.) Some people said they were too afraid to attend the reading; the local police sent four uniformed officers to patrol the venue to make sure there was no trouble.

Since then, Jentz says she has received surreptitious messages and e-mails alerting her to Duran's whereabouts. Having long since lost his attractiveness to women, he has, she has learned, taken up with a man brain-damaged in a car accident.

I just finished Terri's masterful book...I lived in Eugene OR when this happened and have never forgotten this black event and the violence that was a shadowy background of this time.

Thanks to Terri, also, for bringing the story of Kaye Turner's 1978 Christmas Eve murder in Central Oregon to light. Her murderer is serving life in prison. Small price to pay...but at least he's not out there still hurting poeple like Mr. Dam

For CNN interview (including photos of the suspect), see http://search.cnn.com/search...

Also good interview of Terri on NPR: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php...

I wish she'd make her footage into a documentary.

Thanks for remembering Kaye. Her Christmas Eve murderers, Roger Dale Beck and John Arthur Ackroyd were sentenced to life in prison, but that means they are eligible for parole at 20 years, which, I think is within 2 years from now. They are/were suspects in at least one other murder but I don't think it was resolved

Mary, do you mean that he is not a suspect, or there is just no evidence? it is the most heinous crime to harm a child, and so frustrating that it happens sooo often without punishment.

Yeah , He is not the suspect of Rachanda's case at all. Because we don't have any evidence about her . But he was the last person did see her . When Rachanda got missing they did pick up John for the Kay Jean turner case . He is still in prison and spending his time in prison. And after all these years Rachanda's case never been resolved. And she still is missing . And it's very frustrating for all of us here . We would like know what happen to her .

In the Cline Falls case I think the local cops had no will to solve this. Two gays girls traveling through, hippies and lesbians in the late seventies, and they had to deal with maybe a local comitting these crimes and further tainting the community. Additionally, if this was a homophobic attack does it qualify as a hate crime that may still be prosecuted, perhaps under federal law ? Probably no hate crime laws on the books back then
but don't know, just raising the issue. This should not go unpunished.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
