I am grateful for the involvement of the kids who are in the court, reaching out to peers. I do not understand, though why compensation for theft in addition to admittance of the crime are not the primary requirements. Community service is always a good thing, but does it always relate to the issue which brings the person into the legal system? In cases of theft & vandalism, the cost must be carried by the victim of the crime. How does community service help that? The victim is still out financially, and trust is compromised.
