Is the water safe to swim in at PK? Have there been any reports of bacteria staph infections?

My home is on the Brazos River, 14 miles south of the Dennis Bridge in Parker County and is typically 13' above normal water levels. During any threatening weather, we monitor the flow and release info on the BRA, USGS, and NOAA web sites and know we have at least 9 hours to react to rising water as reported at the Dennis Bridge station. We knew we had sufficient time and were prepared to evacuate but only if necessary.
But, thanks to the efforts of the BRA, after a few days to allow the storms to move out, we simply put the furniture back in the house and went back to life on the Brazos.
The Flood of 07 was the worst in 25 years and when the Brazos crested at our place at 1:30PM on 6-28, we were most greatful. The river had risen slightly over 10' and another 2'10" rise would have put water in our home.
Our hats are off to the BRA, their engineers and hydrologists for their monitoring and managing the Flood of 07'.
