As a current smoker, I agree with some of the smoking bans inside closed in areas. As far as in public parks I do not agree. This is an open area and smokers should be allowed to have the right if they wish to smoke. I also dis-agree that there should be a state wide ban on smoking. It should be left up to the cities. Let the cities make that choice. The State Government have other more important issues they should be handling.

We are becoming a minortiy in our own country, what we do is not illegal but we are being treated as second class citizens and are made to feel like we are doing something that we should be arrested for. What's next? Well at least this makes Addison happy!

I understand that some people are bothered by smoking, but isn't it our choice to smoke and THEIR choice not to smoke? last year me and my husband (both smokers) were at Six Flags and they had areas specifically for smokers that are out of the way and there were many non-smokers that walked right between where we were smoking and they were making faces and talking alot of unessasary stuff WHEN they had a choice to walk around where we were and not be in the smoking area (there were signs that said "smoking area" all around), and not to walk through a designated smoking area? It seems as though with the higher cigarette taxes and all the bans that we are being forced to stop smoking against what we want for ourselves. why isn't alcohol being banned and taxed higher? everyday i hear on the news that a beautiful family was killed by a drunk driver, not by a smoker! but yet Cigarettes are being banned? I do believe that smokers are being treated like a contagious parasite. I understand the rule of smoking so many feet away from entrances and so on and i can respect that, but why take our freedom of choice away because certain people don't like it. Do something about Alcohol and drunk driving and then i may understand the point.

Actually I am more in favor of banning smoking in Parks and Other publicly owned places than I am in favor of letting big brother tell me what is and isn't allowed on my own property. I don't smoke, I personally hate being in a smoky place, but If the owner of the property chooses to allw it I have the freedom to leave.

I'm all for indoor smoking bans. Parks and open spaces seems a bit excessive. Along the same lines the obese should be forced to sit in their own closed off section in a restaurant. There is nothing more disgusting than watching an, already, overweight person eat. It used to be smoking or non-smoking sections. Now it should be Healthy or Unhealthy. The chairs are larger and the portions are smaller. The overweight should be shamed in the same manner that smokers, spouse abusers, drunk drivers, and the religious.

Have you heard of the Arlington woman who found a grape with an image of the "virgin" Mary on it?
