If The Ripley School is so broke, then why don't they layoff some staff that's not needed.
We just spent alot of money rebuilding a part of the school and updating alot of the rest of the school. If there was any doubt about the future of the school then why was so much spent on it.
My School Taxes have gone so high I have honestly considered moving to another state.
When I was in school there was over 800 kids, and one principal and no teachers assistents. There way to many teachers and other extra people working there that can be layed off.
Why Make the children suffer by bussing them to other schools. It will only take the pride of Ripley School out of their spirit.
Cut back on the staff. don't bus to other schools.

is any one thinking of the kids? when there is no good schools then there are no people that want to move to a town there will be no jobs Ripley always tells big companies that they can not have tax breaks, water breaks so who will bring business to Ripley. so why would you not want your children to get a better education, what school spirit? They all can't wait to leave town. I think it is a requirement to drink or do drugs if you work for the street dept. it happens in the county and the state also. Ask the town superviser

What happened to Ripley? I lived there for a brief period, because it was my husbands home town. While I was there, my kids were in sports, and they did well in school. This was truly a community that raised the children together then, but were talking 1990- 1994. I enjoyed my time in Ripley, but have to say that when it came to school budgets, it seemed the first thing that was going to get cut if a budget didn't pass was sports. Sports are what kept my husband in school in the late 70's in Ripley, and sports is what keeps most kids in school, in a small town like Ripley. So, when they started threatening to take sports away, everyone quickly accepted the budgets. Now, years later, I hear the school is lucky to have 15 kids per grade level. It was never a big school, but it served a purpose, and it graduated most of its student back when we lived there. Kids weren't dropping out, left and right. Sure they move away when they graduate, but as they move away others will return. If I had it to do all over again, I would not have left Ripley myself.

We moved to a school system that has probably got 8-10 different townships in one school. Kids aren't known by the teachers, or others parents personally like in Ripley. Where is the pride in Ripley? Where did it go? When you drive through there now, it looks like a ghost town. The merger talks are constant, and for financial reasons I under stand why, but Ripley kids will be lost in a merger. The Ripley kids won't be on the sports teams if they merge with Westfield, Westfield don't want them, they have always been the competition. If I still lived in Ripley, it would be a pride issue for sure, to remain an independent school, and find ways to maintain as a individual school, but I am just one person!

I just took my family out of Ripely. We lived there for almost 6 yrs. Tired of the slumlords who give two shits about their homes. Their theory is "we will make a note of it" But never do a damn thing. As for the school, no it does not offer anything for the students as in sports or dances or anything. So they kids find other things to do. Have parties, hang out with older kids get pregnant. I think the merger would be good, but also afraid the Ripley kids will get lost in the merger as well. But that is trial and error. Something has to be done, there are many families moving out Ripley. Not just of the school but cause the renting in that town is way to high. To own a home is crazy expensive with the taxes.

Slumlords???? I'll have you know I owned apartments, and no matter how careful we were in researching our tenants backgrounds all we ever got were worthless scum who would trash our apartments. We tryed to maintain our beautiful apartments in a high class style of living. But after a few months our tenants would stop paying rent then trash the apartment and then move out. We would have to spend thousands of dollars to clean and fix the apartment in the high standard that we tryed to maintain. Only to turn around and repeat the whole thing over. We went broke and just couldn't afford to keep on. We sold our beautiful apartments and just gave up.
So Willow if your one of the tenants that lived in our apartments........Good Ridence!

Nope sorry never rented from you. Not everyone is a slumlord, but there are many out there. Who do nothing to repair the place when things go wrong. They wait until it is to late. I know there are many tenants out there who destroy property, they are the ones that ruin it for the rest of us out there. What is wrong with some of the landlords who just refuse to do work i do not get it. You want the tenants to take care of the property, well then fix things that go wrong that have nothing to do with the tenant has done it is called normal ware and tare. Or how about when you move into a new place and you get told "were going to do this or that" Well this or that never gets done. So when you plan to move the landlord says "what happend to this or that" not they want to charge you for it. Thank goodness for digital cameras I take pictures when I move into a place. Your statemnt was a little deffensive like you have been labled as a "slumlord" before? If you had bad tenants sorry for your losses. Were not all the same.

No I have never been called a slumlord, but felt you were classifing me as one. I no longer own apartments because we went into the poor house trying to maintain them. You should see all the garbage , junk ,damage to the walls (like big holes where fist went through them) Refridgerator with spoiled meat and maggots crawling in it because they lived in the apartment with no power on for a month or so. Illegal drugs hidden on bookshelves, booze spilt all over our sticky pine wood floors that I had just resurfaced. That person alone still owes us over $3000.00 and we will never see the money. His father is a judge in town.
I could tell you things that would curl your toes. Like a house that I rented out. The guy plugged up the sewer pipe. instead of calling me to fix it , he went into the basement and broke the sewer line and let the basement fill up with sewage. until he moved out.

I'm sorry I'm bitter towards tenants, but I learned my lesson.

I wished you would have rented from me.

Sorry that you had to deal with garbage, and loose out in the long run. I know that if a tenant does destroy property on accident they should fix it but notifying the landlord and paying for the whole or whatever their selves. A lot of people in the world just do not care. Then there are some that are truly afraid to tell the landlord that a whole for example went into to the wall due to whatever the reason sometimes they are legit. Some lanlord will evict them without asking question, however these are the same landlord that will not fix things when it breaks due to ware and tare.

I wish i picked a different place to live in that town maybe things would have turned out better for us. hopefully one day you will get the monies owed to you. Good luck to you!

A relative rented from Gibbs, property not maintained, cutting corners and not doing what a landlord should do. Throwing tantrums when a tenant moves out and refusing to pay security deposits when the place is left clean and decent--tenants took pictures to prove it when they left. Beautiful apartments my ass.

Your Full of SHIT. We never cared one way or another if someone moved out. In most cases we were happy We got rid of Welfare trash who never paid rent on time, or never paid it at all, trashed the apartments that would take over $1000 to repair. If any of our tenents left the apartment in any kind of decent shape we gladly returned their deposit.

No Bob, it's you producing the bullshit. My sister paid on time, was NOT on welfare and sent copies of the photos to others so the proof was out there. Maybe you didn't say that the refridgerators unplugged with spoiled food was because you unplugged it yourself as spite even though she wasn't moved out yet.
