The short sightedness of the planning (or non-planning) commission in the cities of St Cloud, Brainard, Alexandria and Bemidji and countless others makes me ask a few questions.

They ain't making any more land, yet people are being born and immigrating non stop. People need a place to ive and places to work. They are going to live somewhere. These are facts.

Question 1. Do we want our city to grow and "prosper" or fade away and die out?

Question 2. Do we want industrial areas surrounded by residential areas which are surrounded by industrial areas which are surrounded by residential areas ad nauseum?

Look to the future of growth. Where would it benefit the citizens? Where would it hinder?

Fact: Bemidji is going to have an explosion of growth. Do we want our city to be parallell to Brainard, Detroit Lakes, Alexandria and St. Cloud, where ugliness, stagnant traffic flow, and idiotic growth choices are the norm?

This guy has an office in his home which is abutting an industrial complex that really has no equal in the city of Bemidji. There3 is Hwy 2 on one side, the start of his mall on another and businesses surrounding his "home".

My question is this: How can there be a residential area surrounded by commercial businesses? And why should there be? Is there any other houses or residences in that particular area? Why can't he change the zoning of his house to commercial and have his house at his office?

He has been jerked around since day one.

Obviously Mr. Takhar didn't pay off the right people to get this project going. Seems to me this whole fiasco is just another ruse of the powers that be short sighted to flex their unimaginative muscle and extort petty cash to their own pockets.

I got a couple "Frankies" that say the Civic Center will be built long before the mall, no matter what the citizens say!

I think all the people involved with this are just plain silly, grandiois, ludicrous, absurd and on either a power trip or an ego trip or both.

Feathers are REALLY going to be ruffled if someone who has a LOT of cash ever comes into town!!

Peace be with you good people, and remember, what you sow is what you reap.

Peace out

The site still sits there with no changes. Much of the landscape there has been changed to accomodate this development.

What has happened since then? What are the plans for this development?
