Not so fast

Camelot. The Kennedy years were compared to the Arthurian legend, but in retrospect, we learned that it was only a myth.

Wonderful metaphors, but I wonder what it is that tarnished Kennedy’s suit of armor. As a resident of Illinois and the United States, I believe Obama can serve my interests to a much greater extent as president than as senator.

They have been back to Washington when they were needed. Both, Hillary and Barack vote on the important things when needed. A lot of time spent in Washington is in their offices anyway.

I would rather Obama spend his time in the Senate representing his constituents' interests,

Why should he try to get anything done in the Senate when anything that he tries to do, no matter how needed or good for the country, will be obstructed by Mitch McConnell and his forces of dimness?

Once again these "Obama's spending too much time running for President" letters become more annoying and tiresome everytime they are run be the Tribune.

Find something new to Whine about.

Too bad he didn't have that excuse when he got nothing done in Springfield. Ethics reform, that's rich!

At least he has shown, by being incapable of getting anything done, his poorly fleshed out socialist ideas are unlikely to get very far.

These letters defending his lack of acomplishment or experience are getting tiresome and annoying. Find any little bit of substance already.

Are you referring to knowing when not to engage in pursuits of futility?
That would be the definition of wisdom.
I do not blame you for not knowing it when you see it. We've not had virtually no examples of it in the last 7 years.

Obama led efforts to reject federal rules that would have put workers' overtime checks in jeopardy.
He was the go-to guy on a variety of issues. He helped pass legislation overhauling Illinois' troubled capital punishment system
He sponsored legislation to bar job and housing discrimination against gays
He helped create a state version of the earned income tax credit for the poor
Successfully co-sponsored a prescription drug discount buying club program for seniors and the disabled.
Successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform called the Gift Ban Act.
Obama regularly supported gun-control measures, including a ban on semiautomatic "assault weapons" and a limit on handgun purchases to one a month.
Obama parted company with gun control advocates when he backed a measure to let retired police officers and military police carry concealed weapons.

Just because you refuse to look does not mean there is no substance.

Convenient that he decided a paper trail wasn't necessary to actually document his "successes." Or does he have more to hide than trumpet? Spearheading and leading the effort, mighty strong words for someone that can't back it up with the documentation. Co-sponsored? You mean that the powers that be let him put his name on something.

Ethics reform? I guess that doesn't apply to the $300,000 gift from Rezko that he's living in.
