The 44-member Twin Cities Police Department will move early next year into office space next to Restoration Hardware on Paradise Drive, scrapping more expensive plans to set up shop in modular units in a gravel parking lot across from Nordstrom at the Village at Corte Madera.

As a defender of the current order...cops, who may be nice people, must act in atrocious ways. Remember Chicago and the beatings. Remember that during Jim Crow...thousands of Americans received permanent head and back injuries from police.
Thousands of Americans became permanently disabled as a direct result of police beatngs.

I cannot even look a policeperson without getting mad. What they did to my dad in Oakland in 1971. No one in my family will ever be able to trust police after what they did. Being a victim of police brutality leaves you unable to trust. I do not believe John whatever ( the black congressman who is famous for being a victim) when he says he now believes in "the system". He has just been scared into saying it. Like a jew in Nazi Germany saying the Nazis are good...he HAS TO. He has been FREAKED OUT PSYCHOLOGICALLY.
In the black community where I live in MC...nobody believes Obama will stop the war. He is seen as another puppet for the warmongers...out to steal our young for his war.
Obama will clamp the police down on us just as fast as ANY other president...nobody doubts it.
And he will clamp his police down , too.
To me...the police are like an occupying force. They do not provide decent law enforcement...they do not deter crime. They are here to hassle certain people...we know who we are.
Our hope is that Obama will overdo the war thing and we will someday have freedom...after "we the people"...lose the war and START OVER.

I work with disabled adults and I have to call the cops every month to HELP. And they do. I use to work with abused kids and I called the cops daily - and they HELPED. I am not saying that they are perfect protectors of justice but they are a huge help here in the Twin Cities.

I agree with Hello and Dove Rosey needs to learn to do her job better or get out of the profession. You should not ever have to call the police.
Yes, by percentage there are more rotten cops than rotten people and that is why they get into that profession. The Twin Cities Police are not a huge help. They sexually harassed someone I know back in the 1980s.
The crime rate in the Twin Cities does not justify such a large building nor the number of personnel they have nor their overly inflated budget. They need to cut all of that in half and give the money to libraries and education instead.
Why not just buy the office complex and keep them over there? It would be less expensive than the new building they doubled in price after the election. It was supposed to cost $10 million and the IJ reported it as now costing $20 million.

I used to skateboard down Prince Royal..slolom style. The cops never hassled me! I played little league...the cops were coaches. I had a dishwasher job at 13...the cops hassled me ONCE in 2 years riding from Greenbrae Lanes to Prince Royal. They just warned me that it was dangerous....like I cared at 13. At 13...danger is FUN.
The CM PD saved my brothers life by ticketting the holy %$#@ out of him. He had 70+ moving violations by his 18th birthday....with NO drugs or alcohol!!!

If TCPA moved to the College they would have to put up an even nicer temporary building than the MCSO's just to make the MCCDPD's building look even more like a shack.
They should knock down the two that are already there and make one public safety building. Then we would really see the bond money at work.
