Terrible customer service! My experience there was awful and I didn't even get my hair done. I went to Arelis on Monday because I looked online and the store hours said Mon (12pm - 6pm). When I get there, the owner I believe opens at 12:15pm and says to me they are closed but since i'm here she'll do my hair. Then she says she actually has an appoitment at 1pm, and if I dont mind coming back at 4pm, she'll do it then. I accept and returm at 4pm, only to have her tell me she's sorry but she cannot do my hair at all cause the lady she called can't come in to do my hair, but I should come back tomorrow.:/ I don't kno why she even bothered to tell me that cause why in the world would I step foot back in that salon?

I can surely believe that you had a bad experience based on her reply. She did not reply with an apology she replied with more drama.....grow up and I can bet that your business will not prosper ifyou have this type of an attitude!

Try "Visions Dominican Salon." The address is 6930 Laurel-Bowie Road Bowie, MD 20715. The salon is located on route 197 in the shopping center with Burger King, CVS & Subway (just pass Bowie State Unvi.).

The shampoo girls aren't the greatest. Instead of giving you a soothing wash and scratch, they dig in your scalp with nubs, not nails. I'm usually fairly satisfied with my hair. The stylist I see is Perla. However, everyone does good work. At least from what I've witnessed.

The best thing is that I'm out within 2 hours. I recommend making an appointment though to ensure you're also in and out. I normally call the same day, a few hours before I want to come in and get my hair done. Hope this helps.

Yes that comment was not call for from the owner or if an employee. This will surely hurt your business. I was planning on going there but with that rude, immature and uncall for comment, I will NOT!!! Thanks for whoever post the address for the salon in Bowie.

I went to the Silver Spring location about 2 years ago and had a horrible experience with the hair service and customer service. Having heard a lot about Dominican stylist, I decided to try her out. I have 100% kinky African-American hair. When I called to book my appointment I specified as such and the owner told me she could straigthen my hair. I get there and the stylist blowing out my hair started pulling and tugging on my hair. When I asked for someone else to do my blowout, the owner took over. She had the nerve to tell me that I NEEDED a relaxer because my hair was too "hard". WTF?!?! I'd been getting blowouts for lord knows how many years. She burned my scalp so baldly that I didn't let her finish the blowout. I left with my hair looking a hot mess. I still chose to pay since they'd washed and attempted to blowout my hair. Arelis decides to charge an extra premuim because my hair was hard. I left the exact $55 quoted to me when I made the appointment and walked out without tipping.
I recommend going to Luisa's Hair Salon in Silver Spring, MD. They are great. You don't even feel the heat during the blow dry process. And the shop is beautiful. I'm not a regular customer because I prefer my hair in its natural state, but every now and then, Luisa's get my patronage.

I went to Arelis a while back and got a trim. arelis did a great job and trimmed it exactly how I wanted it. I eventually went to a less expensive hairdresser who really took care of my hair. I decided that when my hair was long enough I would get a good trim. Eventually, my hair was almost BSL and I decided it was finally time for a trim. However, she tends to style hair in styles from back in the day, so I decided to return to Arelis.
As I was short on time and heard good reviews about Arelis salon, I decided to get a perm at Arelis salon as well. The lady who permed my hair was a short older dark-skinned woman. She used almost two whole jars of perm (the small jars) on my hair because, she said, I have a lot of hair.(My other hairdresser usually uses less than a jar).
Next, Arelis was supposed to give my hair a good trim. Instead, she cut more than 8 inches off my hair. I could not believe it!
As I had an event to attend, I had no choice but to let her to finish her catastrophic chop.
Another lady flat ironed my hair and kept spraying what she called heat protectant on my hair. At one point, she sprayed the product into my eyes. After letting her know that the product got into my eyes, she said nothing and continued. Thankfully, my eye was not irritated.
Fast forward today, my hair is breaking off at the demarcation line. I have globs of hair that are only half an inch long.
I took a strand of my hair and the cuticle was stripping and had air pockets along the shaft.
In their favor though, none of them were physically rough with my hair.
In all though, I still had a very sour experience. It certainly wasn't worth my $100 bucks.

By the way, the lady who sprayed that product in my eye is a dark-skinned woman in her thirties or forties, skinny medium height. She works at the middle booth on the right as you walk in. You don't want to let her touch your hair!

How unprofessional are you people? Customers don't come there to get abused. Honestly, I am going to report you all because it does not seem like you all are licensed anyway. Very VERY unprofessional and this is America not Dominica so try hitting someone and see how the USA legal services deal with you.

I am looking for a salon in the college park area and stumbled upon this post. I was interested in Arelis and was curious about the customer service. After seeing this post, I will not be bringing my business here and will be sure to tell my friends the same. Not only was the response unprofessional, but it completely lacked respect for future clientele. What a shame, because your location was convenient... As a Dominican woman, I am even more embarrassed.

I can't believe people actually think someone from the salon wrote that message.

I go to Arelis every two weeks. Sulvia was my favorite but she's gone now. Now I like Rosa. I would NEVER let them put any chemical whatsoever on my hair. I've come into the salon, had my hair shampooed, deep conditioned, rinsed and rolled... all while someone sat and had a relaxer applied. That's entirely too long for a person have have relaxer on their hair... plus they relax more than just the new growth which certainly leads to overprocessing.

Other than my non-chemical issue... I typically love my hair every time. Go see Rosa.

I don't think anyone from the shop posted that comment. I never experienced rude customer service from them ever. They have you in and out. My only gripe is the brushes filled with hair from earlier customers. I figure the heat from the blow dryer is so hot, it will kill any germs! Lol... besides they have u in and out. The things we do for beauty.

Please I don't believe for one moment that someone from Arelis wrote that response. I have always received good service. In and out within two hours tops. Good products and blowouts. I love you Rosa. You do good work.

I'm a former friend of Arelis and will let you know frist hand that, the comment is very much up the alley of Arelis and Rosa. They are both undercover with the attitudes and threats until they don't get their way. I'm here to tell you that with all the trouble that Arelis has been involved in from dealing with her TWO sons, she knows that she has NO room to send anykind of threats or room to be rude to ANYONE but they do.
When it comes to time, its said BUT Arelis herself will set u on the back burner ASAP!!!
Its a very sad situation there, its even worse that evryone is doing hair BUT not LICENSED.
Don't let Arelis fool you, its all about the coins n there NOT YOUR HAIR!!!

I have been to Arelis several times and each time it has been a good experience. I find it hard to believe that anyone from the shop would have written the comment posted by "I will wreck u."

I wouldn't recommend it for African decent coarse or tight curled natural hair but for us relaxed or finer hair black or brown sisters its a winner.
