Where is Kara Kopetsky?

I've seen so many postings on here comparing Kara to Kelsey Smith. From what I've heard, the reason Kara's case has not had as much attention as Kelsey's did is because Kara is a known runaway and it is belived by law enforcement that this is what has happened in her disappearance this time. I was told that Kara had actually disappeared before Kelsey did, that her parents KNEW she had just run away, and that they were using the attention to Kelsey's case to try to get someone to turn Kara in. I was quite upset to hear this, as there was a type of mass hysteria for a while here in Overland Park when Kelsey died, with people thinking they had a serial killer on their hands, when Kara's family knew all along that the two cases were not related.

While I'm very sympathetic to Kara's family regardless of why she's missing (I can't imagine what they must be going through), I think we do need to keep things in perspective. And I think it was thoughtless and selfish to throw an entire city into a panic when they KNEW their claims were unfounded.

She is obviously dead-as-a-doorknob and by now is likely stinking to high heaven as she rots to pieces. You can bet Kara is long gone and has been a classic 'stinker' for weeks.

Well this is really sad.I myself had my daughter run away a couple of times and it is very scary you go through all the emotions you would if they were abducted before the anger sets in.Why are people on here so certain she ran away?Has this girl been found yet?I feel very sorry for her family and friends.My thoughts and prayers are with you,as for this R F Cutforth person what you had to say here was completeley uncalled for.

I realize that this posting was a while back and maybe Dee won't see this... but for anyone else out there that MIGHT look at this, I did want to set this straight.

In her comment, Dee flat out said that "from what I've heard..." and that is exactly what all of that is, here say. I'm definitely not trying to be mean or anything but that has been the problem with this whole disappearance from the beginning (well, just one of the many...) So many people are hearing this and hearing that and taking it as gospel... One person says, "oh she was a known runaway" and then it is written in stone... "oh she ran away". I don't feel it is my place to tell all of my family's business on here and, again, I don't mean to call Dee to the mat on here. I just think it is important to remember that things that you may here are not necessarily the truth.

Since we truly have no answers at all we don't know if there is a connection between Kara and Kelsey's case... it has never been proven or disproved... so who really knows. It wouldn't surprise me if Edwin Hall had done something like what he did to Kelsey before and may have, if not caught so quickly, done again... so the "hysteria" was probably not completely without reason.

As is the case with most missing persons, once the situation happens (which I wouldn't wish on my very worst enemy) the poor missing person as well as his/her family is put through the ringer and under a microscope... no one looks perfect under that kind of scrutiny, believe me. Not to mention, no one hands you a manual on how to handle it. You just do the best you can and go from there. It is very easy for so many people to say what SHOULD have been done especially when you’re not the one going through it first hand.

I certainly feel for all of those people out there who have missing loved ones… it is a “club” that you never dream you could be a member of… As for Kara, she wasn’t perfect… I don’t know anyone who is… she’s just a silly and funny 17 year old girl that we want back in our lives. A girl who should have graduated a few weeks ago and should be making plans for a fun-filled summer and college or work plans for the fall. Wherever she is, we all love her and want her home

I've never posted on here, but I have a question. Whenever you go to myspace and search for Kara Kopetsky one comes up that looks just like her old myspace that hasnt been logged into since May 2007..except this one says it was logged into this may and that she is from Atlanta, GA..but the blog is dated the same date as her blog on her other myspace..anyone know anything about this?
