When is the public going to get it through their thick heads? The police have to make many quick, snap decisions; and the public should not be second guessing any of those snap decisions.

Besides that; our nation's lawmen are under a tremendous amount of stress. And, they need outlets for that stress. If a family member or a loved one gets held against their will every now and then; it should be looked at as just a method for the officer to release some of that pent up stress.

Let's cut this man some slack. He has been risking his life for you, every single moment that he has been on duty; week after week. We should not be holding our lawmen to the same standards of behavior that the general public gets held to. Again, cops are under a high degree of stress; and sometimes their built in safety valve needs to release. It may look like the cop is lashing out against his own loved ones; but it just goes with the job.

Lighten up, people!
Must be kidding

As a long-time, former State Police Officer/Investigator I know that police should be held to a higher standard than other citizens - not a lower standard. Police Officers SHOULD be leaders and mentors and individuals to be treated with respect. How do you expect anyone to RESPECT an officer who lacks self control, judgment and a moral compass? An officer should be suspended following an assault charge and if the charge is founded should be fired. That officer if permitted to continue to wear the uniform is a smudge indelibly staining the rest of the force. There should be a zero tolerance for bad cops. There are too many good officers out there and definitely no room for bad ones.
